BSF Larvae are so good for chickens. I purchased this brand because it is made in the USA and because the price is great! If you need to get your chickens in the coop at night, just shake the container and they come running. Also, I know the quality of the eggs is better. The shells are hard and the yolks are beautiful. I do not free range my chickens, so getting the proper insect protein is very important. This is the second time I have purchased this brand. I will continue to do so. Great product, great quality. I gave 5 stars for flavor, because my young turkeys will jump up and rip the container out of my hand if I don't feed fast enough - not because I think they taste great, lol.
This is the best value for the $$$ I found. The larvae are big, look juicy (though dried) and are whole, not broken yo pieces. The reason I switched to soldier fly larvae is because they are much cheaper than meal worms. This year, I had a turkey hen that decided she needed to hatch out a second batch of poults on August 30th. Living in Idaho, I needed to get babies fattened up and growing much faster than the sparse bug population on the range would allow for. They needed to be fully feathered out within a short time and before the frost hit. Additionally, since the turkey hen decided on a second hatch, she did not start the molting until late September, a month too late to have all the blood feathers grown out by the time it got cold. Additionally, I had a few chickens that had not started to molt yet either. I feel this feed greatly helped in speeding the process of growing the babies and allowing the adult birds to shed summer feathers and grow winter plumage in time before snow fall and heavy frost. GREAT product and an acceptable price. Will buy more.
