Job Details

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time (1.0 FTE) position as a research assistant/learning designer on the DigiCanTrain Project within the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Galway. The position is funded by EU4Health and is available from the 1st July (or as near as possible thereafter) for 2.5 years (30 months). The principal investigator is Dr Maura Dowling, School of Nursing and Midwifery (University of Galway). The successful candidate will work with and report to Dr Dowling.

 

 

 

The DigiCanTrain project’s overall aim is to improve access to continuing professional education, increase digital skills and the use of eHealth technology for clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals working with people affected by cancer and improve the resilience of healthcare systems. The project focuses on developing and piloting an educational and training programme for clinical and non-clinical trainers that is adaptable for European cancer centres.

 

 

 

Job description

The successful candidate will be required to take an active role in all aspects of the project, be self-motivated with excellent written, interpersonal and organizational skills and have experience in educational research, learning design and digital technology in a health care setting.

 

 

 

 

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with planning, co-ordinating and implementing work package Assist with the implementation plan Assist in writing up and reporting on work package deliverables Collaborate with colleagues working on the DigiCanTrain project Schedule work package team meetings, set agendas and minute taking Ensure timely completion of the work package and give feedback on progress to the principal investigator, line manager, project management steering committee and funders Assist with the implementation and evaluation of the pilot programme Assist in writing up work package outputs to include peer-reviewed journal papers focused on development of digital skills in oncology Assist in dissemination activities, including preparing and delivering a presentation of project work to academic, industry, health professional, and public audiences Attend and network at relevant conferences and meetings as appropriate Assist in drafting work package monitoring reports Complete the administrative work to support the project Support the financial and budget management of the project Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities as required by the principal investigator and/or line manager.

 

 

Qualifications/Skills Required:

Essential Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in instructional design, e-learning or digital media Evidence of expertise in using educational digital tools and technology such as 360 video technology and simulation Evidence of expertise in digital learning technologies Evidence of curriculum development Evidence of ability to meet deadlines, to initiate, plan, and organise own workload Evidence of presenting study updates/reports Proficient in IT skills including Word, Excel and PPT Excellent interpersonal skills, including experience in effective teamwork and collaboration Highly motivated, with strong attention to detail and quality

 

 

Desirable Requirements:

 

  • Experience in the development of adult education learning modules Experience in using digital tools and technology in a healthcare setting An understanding of ECTS, CME and micro-credentials Knowledge of the legal requirements regarding data protection and confidentiality data protection requirements. Evidence of writing for peer-reviewed publications

 

Employment permit restrictions apply for this category of the post

 

 

Salary:  €29,275 - €39,158 per annum, pro rata (public sector pay policy rules pertaining to new entrants will apply)

 

 

Start date: The position is available from 01st August 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter
