I have the /versions/1.7.2-XRay folder, and it seems to have installed properly, but only official versions show up in my launcher to be selected. Am I doing something wrong?
Edit. Solved by opening the .json and correcting the folder name.

I love how Xray users tell people not to use Xray if they don't like it. I used to use Xray tons. until I realized I completely destroyed a servers economy and was basically running gameplay for me and a bunch of other players. and I still used it for a while. I could care less if people use it in single player because then you're only effecting yourself. but the truth is most people just want it in servers. there is no doubt about it. its unfair and its cheating but hey, some servers owners allow it and seriously I play on private servers mostly now so I don't really care
still doesn't change the fact that it makes me sad that so many people just sacrifice gameplay for easy resources :/
Although its worth noting that although it can be done, it doesn't mean it should be done, server owners find ways of tracking such things and if its found that you are using it then they will most likely block your account as its unfair to other player to do this.
Thanks for the response and lastly i still have a question about it... in LAN am i the only one who can use it? in an example where i act as the server cuz i was the one who created and opened the world to LAN, and in vice versa if i was to join a LAN world or a server will i still be able to use it?
But is this undetected? Alot of servers scripted their own protection against it. It is pretty easy, just calculate the blocks being rendered.
Yes, technically it's undetectable.
The servers actually have no idea what blocks your rendering and which you're not.
That's all client sided.
The usual protection against it is ore obfuscation, which hides the rare ores until you get close to them.
