The Life Lesson....Is You Never Give Up, Not Until The Very End!

After taking my family snowboarding yesterday, I caught the end of the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints football game. I am not a huge football watcher, but enjoy a good game and the playoffs. My father grew up in Minnesota, and is a big Vikings fan. He was texting me throughout the day while I was snowboarding about the game. If any of you saw the game, it was an emotional roller coaster.

The vikings dominated the first half of the game, and the perception is they fell part the second half of the game. With only 25 seconds left in the game, the Vikings received the ball down 1 point (about to lose) and on their 20 yard line. It appeared they were going to loose the game and be out of the playoffs. My father even texted me that the Vikings were going to lose by 1 point. Some would have given up at this point in the game. The Saints thought they were going to win and move on to the championship game.

Here is what a sports journalist said after the game was over:

"But sports reflect ourselves. And they teach us about life. And there was a life lesson here, for a team that seemed to have blown their opportunity, for a fan base that has long seemed cursed, for Robison's son, who was listening to his dad."

"The life lesson," Robison said, "is you never give up, not until the very end."

I share this story because I think there is a good life lesson for us all here. Many teams, and individuals, would have given up at this time in the game. Down a point, on the 20 yard line (80 yards to go for a touchdown and 50 yards for field goal range) with only 25 seconds left on the clock in the game. The final play to WIN the game was called Seven Heaven.

You have an enormous amount of ability to shape the outcome in your life. The first step is to believe, the second step is to take massive action.

Make today a masterpiece.

Never give up until the very end. Then give up. Seriously, that is the lesson. At the end, give up. Thats how you know it is the end I guess.
