Compass, our new homebase at the heart of our airport

With the inauguration of the Compass building, Brussels Airport Company sets a new milestone and continues to strive for a sustainable future.

Today, Brussels Airport Company moves its offices to a new building at the heart of our airport.

Compass is the new office and homebase for all administrative employees of Brussels Airport Company. Our new modern, sustainable and future-proof building is adjacent to the departure hall and is connected to it. Its central location at the airport allows us to be even more in the heart of operations and closer than ever to passengers and airlines.

Whereas previously our staff worked in various office buildings, spread across the airport, the new building allows more departments to work under one roof and serves as a meeting place where administrative and operational employees can connect. It is also a building that facilitates hybrid working, the new normal after the COVID-19 pandemic. Compass has been adapted to this new reality in the course of the project.

Furthermore, sustainability has been integrated in the concept from the start of the project. The building is equipped with solar panels, energy-efficient cooling and ventilation and a central heating system with heat pumps designed to operate gas-free as from 2027. This means that from 2027 onwards, gas or any other fossil fuel will no longer be used to heat the building. In line with our commitment for the circular economy, we have made maximum use of existing office equipment and material, and we have further improved our waste management.

With the inauguration of Compass, we focus on all key pillars of our new strategy ‘Shift 2027’:

  • embedding sustainability in everything we do
  • strengthening our performance as a key intermodal hub
  • diversifying our business building further upon our core airport activities

This sustainable, energy-efficient building embodies our strategy, in the heart of operations and close to our customers. In short, Compass will give us the space and opportunity to realise our ambitions while also bringing our airport community closer together.

Gelukwensen! Laat dit het moment zijn om na jaren van ellende de bladzijde te mogen omkeren en weer met vertrouwen te mogen uitkijken naar de toekomst. Cheers Brussels Airport Conpany!

Congratulations, … but maybe you should tackle the outside Arrivals area … it looks like arriving in a 3rd world country. As a Belgian, I am embarrased that for o visitor this is the first thing they see when they leave the terminal building. Long long overdue
