Setting goals can be a great way of staying motivated at work, as well as in your personal life. 🤩 But, how can you ensure that these goals are tangible, rather than just vanity metrics? Look, we get it - in those moments of motivation, we think it's achievable to be able to go on 4 holidays, save enough money for two houses, and become a fitness influencer. 🙈 However, at some point, we have to be realistic with our goals so they can be effective. Try using the SMART goal framework to set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound goals. Our advice would be to start with two goals (personal and professional) and then review how you are doing with both of them midway through the year. 22 days into Jan, giving up on resolutions peaks here (according to some random study that everyone now believes). So, today, here's some random advice, that's very obvious, but frustratingly overlooked. Posting into the void is ancient (read ineffective). There's only so much (read almost nothing of value) you can achieve with media pushes until saturation kicks in. Yes, there's so much context and yes this can't be summed up in a few sentences, but at the cost of sounding like a LinkedIn bro (a habit I hope starts and ends with this), here's a suggestion: INVEST EFFORT INTO SOCIAL LISTENING WITH / FOR YOUR BRAND. You don't need fancy tools to start. You don't need to procrastinate on strat either imo. A simple goal will suffice (More people to my feed, more likes on my comment and so on). Build on it as you find your groove. Like a good workout routine, consistency is the name of the game. If you're actually reading this with intent, continue, if not - here's a random picture of me actually keeping my resolution and showing up at the gym (and using the first half of Monday scribbling on a gym selfie) - Rahul Kirpalani I hope you're proud. To create a well rounded brand that can hope to organically stand on its feet, social listening is key. Wield it well and metrics like impressions, share of voice and more become effortless. Fumble, and you get shadow banned into the ‘annoying brand’ that shows up to conversations uninvited. A balancing act that requires patience, a clear strategy and appetite for risk. It’s a digital survey to understand what truly matters, the impact of your product/service, the temperature of your community or simply the seed that nurtures one. We used it for HRX 6 years ago and pivoted from a Hrithik Fanatic Club to a proper fitness brand (we even made it to podcasts as case studies aka LinkedIn bro heaven) - so obviously it worked. We built the brand’s first Running Squad, a micro act that transformed into multiple marathons and squads across the country in months. ++ create one of the largest UGC talent pools, to host and boost all our campaigns and study the next set of products to launch. Awards were an effortless byproduct. 6 years on, social listening remains the beating heart of all that we do. Our work with Amazon Prime Music to build their Twitter / X platform cannot be skipped. Impressions that would otherwise feel unheard of, all stem from a carefully curated social listening strategy. Okay I'm done. I hope, you dear reader are ‘listening’ carefully: - Focus on a singular objective - Stay unbiased with what may seem cool or fun - Build an social listening approach that leads the brand to meet and beat that objective. Stay relentless, be obsessed with replies and numbers and the results are around the corner (smart pivots if they seem distant). Best of luck 🐺

Just like in fitness, consistency in social media doesn't necessarily mean posting every day. It's about finding a schedule that works for you and sticking to it. Rather than judging those who post daily, it's essential to recognize that everyone has different preferences and commitments. Just like in fitness, some people prefer going to the gym every day, while others have designated gym days. So, if you're aiming to maintain consistency on social media, remember that quality content and engagement are key, rather than a strict daily posting schedule. What’s something online coaches and social media influencers don’t show? The work that goes on behind the scenes! The hours spent sat at a screen 💻 planning, constructing 🚧, uploading, explaining, detailing, researching etc. Tonight is a prime example. I’m putting together some workouts and plans so my time for anything but work tonight is super limited. I’m settling in for a massive, late night session of messages, constructing workouts, writing posts to help you guys and if i have time, film a piece of video content. For a long time the illusion that online coaches and fitpro’s are never out of the gym has been portrayed, more now as social media is evolving. It’s not really all sweat 💦 and baby oil, selfies in the locker room, shouting ‘lightweight baby’ whilst wearing the new sports attire 👟. As a trainer and online coach, I pledge to give my clients the best of my knowledge 👨🎓 to help them meet their goal. I consider it my responsibility to stay at the top of the tree 🌲, and although I’ve racked up nearly 10 years in the industry, I know that research evolves! This means studying, which takes time. Then there is the constructing and periodising each and every client’s programmes so that everyone I help has a good experience 👍🏻. The total amount of behind the scenes work can take hours from the week, which might mean a missed workout 😞, or time spent tucked away in the office rather than helping with the bedtime story 📚 routine. Now, I’m not complaining - being an online fitness coach has been the dream for many years - and I ❤️ it!
