I am starting to think I need to add a #SundayScottie segment with the run Scottie Scheffler is on. This week's #TigerTuesday would say otherwise. There are just three instances of a player winning five (or more) PGA Tour starts in a row in the last 60 years: - Tiger Woods (7 straight 2006-2007) - Tiger Woods (6 straight 1999-2000) - and Tiger Woods (5 straight 2007-2008). Scottie needs 3 more consecutive wins to match Tiger's streak of 5. There are countless warehouses out there where the same person is on the top of the leaderboard month in and month out. As someone in leadership, that poses a couple challenges: - How do I continue incentivizing this person to stay motivated? - What happens if they leave? - How do I bring the rest of the team "up to par"? Loved our leadership team away day yesterday with Harmonie Limb, Sarah Giles, Holly Gray, Daniel Routt and Rob Wood, feeling very lucky to work with such talented people. Thank you Phil Walsh for the excellent facilitation on the why's and what for's of a good team and how to have couragous conversations. My key aways? 1. Building trust is absolutely key and the foundation of a high performing team 2. Don't underestimate the importance of celebrating achievements and do this whenever you can. 3. The importance of leaning into courageous conversations with curiosity to help get the right outcomes 4. We really are greater together than the sum of our parts.

****Relics & Ambassadors***** In a session with a leadership team last week and the conversation turned to retention (as usual). Introduced the idea of a distinction between Ambassadors in your business, and Relics (both long serving, highly regarded team members). To new people joining…. Ambassadors say things like: - “this is what this company values….” - “Here’s how we do things here….: - “It’s really important to us that…..” They promote and enforce culture. Relics say things like: - “I remember when…..” - “Back in the day…..” - “When I started, this what it was like…..” They create a space and a time that a new member can never be part of. Helping a relic leave is painful but ultimately the right thing for both them and the business, I’d say.

Each year, our SLT (Senior Leadership Team) get together for an offsite to review our current state and map what we want the next 12-24 months to look like at TAG. We held the session yesterday at CUB Club of United Business’s Melbourne headquarters in the CBD. The session kicked off with us writing down what we want our team, our clients and ourselves to say about TAG when out in their respective communities. My key takeaways: **Planning 12-24 ahead allows us the space to be proactive and then work backwards to map out the small changes we need to start implementing now to achieve our desired state. **SLT alignment is critical to TAG's success. We're a bunch of big personalities & the more aligned we are, the quicker we can focus on the tactics & doing required in executing the game plan Looking forward to communicating our key findings with the wider team and rolling out some exciting initiatives together. For the team to grow you need to water them. In my experience taking this as a metaphor works best Getting your team wet might not be appreciated! A few drinks occasionally can go down well. Of course you know that all ready Those wishing to grow prize tomatoes - will go to great lengths to create the right environment, feed them special things, protect them from slugs, some might even talk to them! What special lengths are you going to encourage and enable your team to grow?
