California NPs! We have another hurdle to face for potential Full Practice Authority (FPA). Did you know that some of California's most experienced and qualified nurse practitioners are not eligible to become 103 NPs because their national certifications have been "retired?" I am one of these NPs. The board certification I took, "Adult NP," doesn't exist anymore with AANP. I still have to maintain all of my current licensure, CEUs, board requirements, etc., but AANP retired this particular exam. So the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) has identified these kinds of board certifications as "legacy certifications" and, as such, they are not recognized as potential 103 NPs. These are some of the most experienced and qualified NPs, so this does not make sense!
Even if this does not impact you directly, please visit the CANP action center for ways to contact your legislators and respectfully urge their support of SB 1451. It only takes a minute! #NPsLead#SupportSB1451#CANPhttps://lnkd.in/g5gtKknd

Failing the NCLEX does not define our students. What defines them is their determination to keep trying despite setbacks. As nursing educators, we must consider how we respond when a student fails. Do we put them down or work to uplift and encourage them? At Archer Review, we believe in a holistic approach to education, which involves teaching the subject matter and fostering personal growth and development. We understand that each student has unique challenges and learning styles, and we customize our teaching approach accordingly. Our goal is not only to help our students pass the NCLEX but also to become competent and compassionate healthcare professionals.
In nursing education, debriefing after clinical – whether in person or in simulation – is essential. Learn about the goals of debriefing, along with 6 models that can be put into action to meet those goals: https://ow.ly/absp50Rec6m#NursingEducation#Debriefing
Calling out all NP students in Oklahoma! Bill Alert 🚨
Oklahoma lawmakers recently passed SB458, a bill that would allow nurse practitioners to prescribe medications without doctor supervision after proving themselves for 3-3.5 years.
The bill has now reached the Governor's desk for signature. 📝
Now, this bill has sparked debate. It highlights the growing need for qualified NPs in our healthcare system, especially in rural areas.
Currently, Oklahoma is one of 12 states with restricted practice authority for NPs, meaning they require physician oversight to prescribe medications. 😞
SB458 aims to address this issue by granting NPs more autonomy once they've demonstrated their expertise. Supporters believe this could be a game-changer for rural healthcare, improving access to care and reducing wait times. 🙌
However, opponents argue that the bill may compromise patient safety, citing the difference in education between NPs and physicians. They fear that independent practice could lead to unnecessary tests, treatments, and increased healthcare costs.
As an NP student in Oklahoma (or thinking of booking your rotations there), this bill directly impacts your future. 📚
While the debate surrounding SB458 continues, one thing remains clear: the role of NPs in our healthcare system is more critical than ever. 💪
