There's a fascinating shift happening in healthcare: younger generations are increasingly becoming the main players in their own healthcare journeys. Their approach to healthcare engagement is different from that of previous generations, marking a notable shift in how individuals interact with their health needs. One example is that “more than 50% of people 29 years and younger say they have no primary care physician” opting instead for convenience. Younger generations of healthcare users also engage with mental health services more: “Gen Z and a few of those younger accounted for 42% of the mental health dollars spent while making up only 36% of the enrolled population.” To increase engagement with younger patients Managed Healthcare Executive suggests emphasizing convenience, virtual care, and mental health care. #healthcare #MentalHealthcare #GenZ

The field of senior care is currently experiencing a significant transformation due to changes in demographics and evolving societal needs. By 2030, there is projected to be a staggering 79% increase in the number of individuals aged 80 and above, while the number of adults between 45 and 64 years old will only see a marginal 1% increase. This surge, particularly among the baby boomer generation, is leading to unprecedented changes in the landscape of senior care. As seniors increasingly desire to age in their own homes, the challenges associated with family-based caregiving are becoming more pronounced. Factors such as the widening caregiver gap, complex healthcare requirements, and the emotional and financial strain on families are driving a paradigm shift in how we approach senior care.
