WHAT MAKES THE MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY SO DAMN INTERESTING? The Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago is a glorious vintage building but their exhibits are state of the art, rich media extravaganzas. I captured these video clips of their new exhibit - The Blue Paradox. It's a must-see. Berglund Construction had a part in the creation of the space that housed this exhibit. Ask AJ Jacobs for the full backstory over a hot toddy (yes, it's that time of year). __________ @Torque Real Estate Marketing TORQUE is a real estate marketing agency bringing insight and awareness to the emergence of human experience, properties and the community. #chicagorealestate #museum #architecture #realestate #realestateindustry #marketingagency #realestatemarketing #marketingagency

Funded by Creative Europe, this groundbreaking project takes a giant leap toward the realization of the Experimenta Paisagem Museum—a unique concept of an open-air museum without walls. Landscape Together is not just an art project; it's a celebration of creativity seamlessly blending with the natural beauty of our surroundings. Imagine art installations in harmony with the landscape, creating an immersive experience for everyone. This project is a cornerstone of Experimenta Paisagem, a collaborative platform for territorial development. The ultimate goal? The creation of a museum accessible to all, rooted in democratic principles and the active participation of local communities. Picture an open-air museum where art is not confined by traditional boundaries. The Experimenta Paisagem Museum is designed to be a space for freedom, creativity, and inclusivity—a museum that transcends physical walls and welcomes everyone with open arms. At the heart of this initiative is the belief that art should be accessible to all. By involving local communities in the creative process, we aim to foster a sense of ownership and pride in the shared cultural heritage. Let's shape a museum where creativity knows no bounds, and nature is the canvas! Join us on this incredible journey as we unfold the possibilities of art, nature, and community coming together Photo Credentials: LT Launch_©MAG-Marques_de_Aguiar #LandscapeTogether #ExperimentaPaisagem #ArtMeetsNature #CreativeEurope

Coach, Facilitator, Trainer. Everything DiSC® and The Five Behaviors® Authorized Partner and Certified Practitioner, CliftonStrengths Business Partner
In the spirit of “sharpening the saw”, I participated in a Design Thinking DC field session for the National Museum of American History this week. Question: How might we create a more inviting and engaging Constitution Ave entrance? So great to flex my DT muscles IRL with creative designers! #designthinking #smithsonian #creativity #brainstorming #prototyping
What a thrill for our DT:DC community to partner with the amazing Mike Denison, Head of Design for the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of American History, to reimagine the Constitution Avenue entrance of the museum to make it a more inviting, connected, and inclusive public space. A big thank you to our brilliant workshop leaders, Evan Chan and Fabiola Alvarez Yurcisin who spent hours preparing an insightful and inspiring experience and to Caitlin Anderson for managing all the details. The energy and creativity of the group was contagious. Here's a glimpse of what we achieved: 🔹 Fresh, innovative ideas to enhance the visitor experience 🔹 Collaborative designs that reflect the museum's rich heritage 🔹 A renewed sense of community and shared vision Finally, a huge shoutout to everyone who participated and contributed their unique perspectives. #DesignThinking #Innovation #MuseumDesign #Smithsonian #Collaboration #Creativity

Vacheron Constantin gets educative with the Metropolitan Museum of Art Education has always been a part of what goes on at Vacheron, stemming from Jean-Marc Vacheron’s commitment to teaching his fine skills to an apprentice all the way back in 1755. From this modest promise grew a storied line of apprentices and masters at Vacheron, as well as the Maison’s ‘One of Not Many Mentorship Program’ which, I’m sure, is as grueling as its title suggests. Now, Vacheron has joined with one of the most important museums in the world to further both educational and cultural endeavors. As the old saying goes, two internationally renowned institutions are better than one, so expect great things from Vacheron’s partnership with the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We fully expect this partnership to bring with it a few unique timepieces. One can only imagine what to expect - will the Met inject more colorful and intricate dial designs into Vacheron’s revered watches? Read more at getwatchbites.com

Anyone involved in the museum world is likely familiar with Nina Simon, the trailblazer behind the concept of the participatory museum. I first encountered her ideas when I watched her TED talk and delved into her book, 'The Participatory Museum,' during my very first semester in my master's program at the Rhode Island School of Design. Her book evoked a myriad of 'Hell yeah' moments, nearly causing me to leap out of my seat with inspiration. As I questioned the conventional and somewhat static nature of museums, her work provided me with a roadmap for what a museum could become, introducing me to the vital concept of participation in the realm of design. I embarked on a journey to explore various forms of participation, learning from Simon's book along with my own experiments and ideas that led to co-creating a participatory project with Shivani Pinapotu at the RISD Museum called '(un)heard voices.' Through '(un)heard voices,' we created spaces to create, share, and connect. As I continue to contemplate these ideas, I wish to offer a glimpse into what set me on this transformative journey that I am currently navigating. If you are interested in participatory projects, I wholeheartedly recommend reading Nina Simon's book. In case you want to know more about '(un)heard voices,' you can check it out on my website: www.priyatabosamia.com #museums #participatorymuseums #interactivemuseum #museumnerd #museumsforall #participatorydesign #experientialdesign

My latest article on the Richard Gilder Center for Science explores the extraordinary transformation of a space into something so innovative and inspiring. As technology advances, the Gilder Center harnesses the latest in design and construction techniques to create an environment that seamlessly blends architecture with scientific exploration. Drawing inspiration from nature, the center's design reflects the beauty and complexity of the natural world, fostering a deeper connection between visitors and the exhibits. In my opinion, it's a remarkable asset to the historic American Museum of Natural History, set to redefine how people engage with museums and approach scientific education and research for generations to come!

If you are interested in how a class-based approach can inform contemporary museum theory and practice, have a look at this open-source article I wrote with Serena Iervolino for the latest issue of Museum Worlds
The open-source article 'We Need to Talk about Class: Towards a Class-Based Approach in Contemporary Museum Theory and Practice' co-authored by myself and Domenico Sergi has been published in Museum Worlds; Volume 11, Issue 1 (2023). We are delighted it came out earlier this month and features alongside contributions of several influential colleagues. Many thanks to our editors Conal McCarthy and Alison K. Brown. https://lnkd.in/gJXxS8VP #workingclass #museums #article #contemporarycollecting #pandemic Museum of London King's College London

We are delighted to present our forthcoming scenographic work. This exhibit aims not only to display historical remnants but also to engage visitors in a thoughtful dialogue surrounding the complex narratives of our shared past. Located within a space rich with controversy, our exhibition harnesses the inherent tensions and complexities surrounding the representation of colonial history. The chosen venue, known for its contentious nature, serves as a thought-provoking backdrop that challenges traditional norms of museum display and encourages critical reflection. Central to our exhibition's design is the use of the stripe principle, a concept that has sparked debate within the realm of historical restoration. Rather than shying away from this polemic topic, we have embraced it as the cornerstone of our architectural framework. The stripe principle, traditionally a subject of contention, has been ingeniously integrated into our layout, becoming the very essence that guides visitors through our collection. This deliberate choice transforms controversy into a provocative force, engaging audiences in an unconventional yet immersive journey.#adhocpractice #hanoiadhoc
