🔒 Protecting Your Secrets: Beware of Security Risks with form.io 🎥 Watch the Form.io intro video at 317s about "Roles & Permissions": https://lnkd.in/gqv463pW If you're entrusting form.io with your personal secrets and relying on it to guide you through implementing role and permission systems, it's time to exercise caution. 🔍 What Happened? Storing your credentials into your local storage of the browser, poses severe security risks, particularly from Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) Attacks. During an XSS attack, a malicious script can be injected into your web application, gaining access to your secrets stored in `localStorage`. 🛡️ Solutions for form.io: Secure Cookies: Move the secret storing from the browser's local storage to Secure Cookies with "HttpOnly", "Secure", and "SameSite" attributes enabled. * Cookies with the HttpOnly attribute are inaccessible via JavaScript, providing protection against XSS attacks. * The "SameSite" attribute helps prevent Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) attacks. * And "Secure" .... 🛠️ Solutions for customers who trust form.io Forms for user management: Implementing a strong Content Security Policy (CSP) on your web app, where the form.io plugins are invoked. This whitelists trusted scripts sources and restricting inline scripts execution. However this may only mitigate XSS attacks. 🛑 Disclaimer: The analysis provided is based on information presented in the official video by Form.IO on date 29th of May 2024. It's important to note that Form.IO may have taken steps to address potential security vulnerabilities since the release of the video.

I have been using Local WP to run my test site. I had to fix a mistake today. After testing a Security Plugin and activating 2FA, I realised I could not remember the password. It locked me out of the site. I looked at my options to get back in. I could not find where the Admin Password was stored. So I decided to see if I could remove the plugin from the database. I found the directory where the plugins are stored and removed the plugin folder. This fixed my issue and I could auto log back in. For good measure, I reset the password and noted it down for future reference. Take Away. Always record your password. See if you can find a solution to fix the issue without starting again. Search for the answer via the search engine of your choice. #wordpress #training #wordpresswebsite #wordpressplugin #wordpressdesign
