This is a remarkable and forward-thinking initiative by Mayor Eric Adams and Chief Technology Officer Matthew Fraser! The "New York City Artificial Intelligence Action Plan" sets a new standard for responsible AI use in a major U.S. city and around the globe. It's great to see such a comprehensive framework that evaluates AI tools, builds knowledge and skills in city government, and ensures responsible implementation to enhance the quality of life for New Yorkers. Introducing the MyCity Business site, featuring a pilot for a citywide AI chatbot is a fantastic step forward. This will undoubtedly make it easier for citizens to access vital information and resources, ultimately promoting economic growth and entrepreneurship in the city. As AI technology advances, balancing innovation and responsible use is crucial, addressing potential risks like bias and privacy concerns. Kudos to the team behind this plan, which involves extensive collaboration and input from various stakeholders. The Us Department Of Commerce is working towards creating guidelines for the publication of open data that can be used for GenAI models. With this goal, they have created the AI and Open Goverment Data Assets Working Group, headed by Sallie Ann Keller , which will include experts from academia and industry. It's excellent to see data is being given the attention it needs to keep the improvement and momentum going. We'll be awaiting the results of the Group's work! Government collaboration to explore ways that AI can improve public services is a great idea. This action aligns with a private sector best practice of identifying the use cases (business value) before deciding to implement any AI solution or tool. #AI #collaboration

Among other findings: ‐ 72% of voters prefer slowing down the development of AI compared to just 8% who prefer speeding development up - 62% of voters are primarily concerned about artificial intelligence while just 21% are primarily excited about it - 82% of voters don’t trust tech executives to regulate AI, while voters support a federal agency regulating AI by a more than 3:1 margin The negative sentiment in this poll is stronger than I've seen in others 🤔
