This is perhaps an aircraft you don't hear of everday: The Armstrong Whitworth Albemarle. It rarely comes up, yet this aircraft still provided honorable and important service to the RAF during the Second World War. Designed in the late 1930s, originally as a medium bomber/general reconnaissance aircraft, at the Air Ministry's instruction it was built primarily from non-essential materials such as metal and wood rather than light alloys that were in high demand and that supply of could be critical in the advent of war. Deliveries began by the end of 1941, however before the Albermarle had even started in service, the bomber role had been abandoned as it was found to have no real improvements over medium bombers already in service with RAF Bomber Command. Instead, the Albermarle would be directed into operations as a glider tower, paratrooper carrier and general purpose aircraft. As a paratrooper carrier and glider tower it saw significant operations during the Second World War, being invovled in the invasion of Sicily, D-Day and Operation Market Garden before being pulled from frontline service. Check out my lastest work on The Antique Airshow for full details: #aviation #aviationhistory #history

Here is a link to an article Coffee or Die Magazine wrote on the Battle of Shewan. It’s the biggest battle no one ever heard of. The Marine Corps awarded roughly 30 Navy Crosses during the Global War on Terrorism. 10% of those were earned in the town of Shewan in the summer of 2008. The Marine Corps also issued a significant amount of Silver Stars, impact Bronze Stars with V and other valor awards that summer. It’s worth reading about. https://lnkd.in/eZGUvYiN

009 Dutch Defense This variation involves sharp play and early queen activity, with White aiming for quick development and tactical opportunities against Black's position. The Staunton Gambit leads to unbalanced positions where both sides have chances for active play and dynamic tactics. #StauntonGambit #DutchDefense #ChessOpenings #AggressiveChess #TacticalChess #ChessStrategy #OpeningAnalysis #ChessTactics #QuickDevelopment #EarlyQueenActivity via YouTube https://lnkd.in/dkHFSkiJ

I am definitely not a fan of rippling to Port from Right Shoulder in Column Formation. That's what is going on here. The Ripple begins with the lead guard and progresses through each member on their next left step. The problem is that one national is higher than the other and that's not appropriate international flag protocol. It's also inappropriate with just the American flag and a departmental (for instance) since the US would be momentarily lower. The team should move to Port/#PortForColors in synchronized fashion to adhere to the protocol of all national flags (in this case) being at the same height. The same goes for the Ripple to Right Shoulder. That's fine for the standard colors setup with the US and whatever other org flag. But, when two or more national flags are involved the standard of rippling is not appropriate. #MakeFlagProtocolGreatAgain #MakeColorGuardGreatAgain 🔆Education is 🔑! . 🔹Read your manuals! #ComplexitySimplified There are proper ways to display and respect the American flag. In 1923, the US National Flag Code was created and distributed nationwide. The code became Public Law in 1942 and became the US Flag Code we know today. Here is a good refresher of the Do’s and Don’ts. Lastly, to dispose of worn-out US flags, you can drop them off at police stations, state or county government offices, and Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts.

Any planet that confuses guns with gallantry is a planet of apes. Prioritizing military over education, we only build a world full of terrorists. Military is just legal terrorism, To fathom this you gotta be human. What do monkeys know of peace and love, When guns are their emblem of patriotism! We don't need civilian disarmament, We need absolute universal disarmament. Only a worldwide ban on firearms production, Can facilitate a paradigm of peaceful coexistence. Let's see which nation has the heart and backbone, To legislate absolute ban on firearms manufacture! Let's see who are the first civilized people, Let's see which nation is the first peacemaker! What's the point of one ceasefire, Let's pull the plug on all war. Let's disband all military, and siphon those funds to housing, education and healthcare.
