This Women In STEM Wednesday, we're shining a light on environmentalist and eco-communicator, Leah Thomas (@leahthomas)! 🌍✨ ✨ Leah is the founder of Intersectional Environmentalist, a platform that amplifies diverse voices in the environmental movement and promotes sustainable practices for all - advocating for the planet and people, “especially those most often unheard.” Just like Leah, countless young girls dream of changing the world 🌍 through STEM. But sometimes, access and opportunity can be barriers. That's where YOU come in! By attending our upcoming Fundraiser celebrating 10 Years of impact and innovation (link in bio), you'll be directly supporting programs that empower girls to pursue their STEM passions. 🎟️✨ Together, let's invest in the future of #STEM and create a generation of leaders like Leah! ✊ #SelfEsteem #STEMinist #GiveBackOakland #FutureLeaders #Fundraiser

Let this sink in. 👉 While women make up 50% of the non-STEM workforce, they represent only 29% in STEM careers globally. The challenge intensifies with career advancement—just 12% of STEM Chief Executives are women. This gap is more than a statistic; it's a call to action. By supporting our mission, you're not just donating; you're investing in the potential of women and non-binary people to lead, innovate, and shape the tech industry. Together, we can break barriers and redefine STEM leadership. 💪💜 🌟 Donate today: https://lnkd.in/gqF5drZk #womenshistorymonth #womenintech #womeninstem

Many nonprofits exist to improve the lives of women, children and other disadvantaged groups. For me, this is exactly why it's so important to have women at the table where decisions are being made. Similarly, having a board that includes at least some representation of the people the organization serves can be really powerful. At Athena, I work with nonprofits of varying sizes - rather than entering into a binary gender debate, I believe we need to focus on fostering collaboration and inclusivity to drive meaningful change. So how do we empower more women to ascend the career ladder to executive roles in larger nonprofits, while encouraging men to address the issues affecting their direct communities?

With women set to inherit 70% of intergenerational wealth globally by 2035, their influence is also set to grow across the cultural economy. At a recent client lunch, Lucy-Anne Garnett of Citi Private Bank's Art Advisory and Finance team, and Sigrid Kirk, co-founder of Association of Women in the Arts (AWITA) explored the intersection of art and philanthropy. Key insights – • Women are increasingly taking on leadership roles in philanthropy, directing resources towards causes they are passionate about such as the arts and culture • Women donors are pioneering “impact giving” where they support museums, non-profits and art initiatives that promote diversity, equality, and social justice • Women often engage in collaborative philanthropic efforts, pooling resources with other like-minded individuals or organizations to amplify their impact in the art world Learn more about our global network for our women clients, which connects people of all genders to explore ideas, educate and share experiences from a female perspective. https://on.citi/3TEH1Nq

Volunteering has never been about spare time for me. It's about investing in a future where the brilliance of women and girls illuminates every corner of the world. As Malala Yousafzai so powerfully stated, "One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world." Witnessing the potential unleashed when women and girls are empowered is a privilege and a call to action. Through volunteering, I get the incredible opportunity to be a small part of that change. Every hour spent mentoring young girls, advocating for women's rights, or supporting female-led initiatives is a seed sown for a more equitable future. Let's bridge the gender gap, not with empty words, but with dedicated action. Join me in volunteering for causes that champion the power of women and girls. Together, we can rewrite the narrative. #EmpoweringWomen #BridgingTheGap #VolunteerForChange #InvestInHer #SheChangesTheWorld Women's Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC) wteconline

Like you, we were looking forward to gathering with our national community of folks committed to justice and joy with and for girls, young women, and gender-expansive youth of color. Unfortunately, just one month out from the In Solidarity We Rise: Joyful Radical Abundance 2023 Summit we were notified of the withdrawal of a major sponsor. This puts us at a critical and unexpected crossroad in terms of covering the cost of the Summit. Because of this, we are rescheduling the In Solidarity We Rise Summit from November 2023 to Spring 2024. This was a very difficult decision to make because of the high-level of excitement about attending the Summit that continues to build across the country. We apologize in advance for any difficulty this creates and are working to quickly identify new dates which we hope to announce in the next few weeks. To be clear we are not canceling the Summit. Existing registrations and workshop selections will be carried over to the new dates and registration will remain open. We know there are a lot of details to work through so check out our FAQ's here: https://lnkd.in/gNasN9wE. In the coming days we will continue to share exciting details, such as program content, and more. This is disappointing, but it is a temporary setback and we know that together we are stronger than the forces that try to hold us back. Time and again, girls, young women, and gender-expansive youth of color have bounced back from hindrances such as this one. We will lean into their example, and together we will ensure that In Solidarity 2024 will again be the safe, healing, powerful and one-of-a-kind space it was in 2017 and 2019. We look forward to seeing you this coming spring! #ISWR2024 #JusticeandJoy #Activism #Organizing #Empowered #Healing #SFEvents #IntergenerationalHealing #Equity #Justice #Galvanize #YouthLead #PolicyandSystemsChange #NonProfit #joyfulradicalabundance #womensequality
