Why are all eyes focusing on #hongkong these days, as it relates to #digitalasset regulation? Because on June 1st, the long awaited public guidance on virtual asset policies will be announced by the regulators, which has much implications forwards the licensing regime, retail access, and how virtual assets will be managed and secured, amongst other critical aspects for the rapidly developing industry. Now, just because the first guidance will be out in a few days, doesn’t mean the work is done, especially since it currently covers mostly #CeFi. More consultation will be needed for #stablecoin regulations, #DeFi considerations, and much more. I was particularly excited for Finoverse to host the Radical Finance Asia conference, where we discussed amongst industry leaders on private round tables for recommendations on these specific topics. The readouts of which will be submitted to the government for their consideration and incorporation into the next steps of digital asset regulations and ecosystem development efforts. It was great to hear insights from my fellow industry experts Angelina A. Kwan CPA CA (Aus/NZ), Vivien Khoo, Brian Chan, Emmanuelle Pecenicic, Lucy Gazmararian, Walter Jennings, Esme Pau, CFA, Kunal Thakur (汤可诺) and many others.
