Khaite + Zoran
"Is this the future of New York Fashion?" The NYTimes is asking after NYC Fashion Week. Unfortunately, I couldn't read the article that provided arguments supporting this narrative because I do not subscribe to the publication. However, I have been thinking about Khaite for a while.
The second blow came when I realized that Departure magazine no longer exists, and I couldn't find the article I was thinking of bringing up to everyone. So, I have to do without additional materials.
The old article about Zoran in Departure, in my opinion, was the most effective selling vehicle I have ever seen. It sold thousands of dollars worth of clothes. The author describes a woman she sometimes sees in the NY airport, who is flying Concord (at that time) and has very small luggage that contains clothes for a week-long trip. All the items are Zoran, and that's all you need to look fab +... Hermes bag.
With a Spartan attitude, his clothes seem almost plain, consisting of four or five solid colors, all in the same expensive fabrics like Tasmanian wool, silk duchesse, etc. They will fluidly and voluptuously wrap around the body, creating a zen-like atmosphere for a woman. His clothes give you an air of confidence and insouciance; you just throw them on, and on your way, you are... Khaite is different from Zoran in terms of aesthetics, but there are more similarities than differences:
1. The fabrics: the quality and "feel" of the fabrications are very similar—strong fabrics like silk satin are used not only for the evening but also in the daytime.
2. Five easy pieces: Zoran's famous first collection is timeless and still applicable: a shirt in three lengths, a pair of pants, and a skirt, all in crepe de chine. The tops were ivory; the bottoms were black. Khaite's clients can easily "create" a base wardrobe based on brands like t-shirt dresses, Ashford pants, etc.
3. Khaite (as well as Zoran) reads "American luxury client". Strong, often tall, not flashy, and confident. Like the woman from Departure didn't need anything but Zoran in her walking closet, now she needs nothing but Khaite. #wwd #bof #fashion #americanfashion
The collection is stunning! Congratulations Savage X Fenty! 💫
