It's Friday, let's go with FiredUpFridays! Here are the three things I'm heated over: 1. March Madness has arrived! On the women's side, my Utes were taken down by a Gonzaga team that couldn't be stopped from the 3-point line. They went 54.5% from downtown. We went 26.5%. That's interesting because WE, the Utah Utes, are usually the team that can't be stopped from beyond the arc. This reminds me, we can't always be one-dimensional. When life, work, or daily challenges arise, are we well-equipped to deviate from the original "game plan" and pivot to something more productive for the moment? A respectful single flame for healthy and elite competition 🔥! 2. I'm officially a Utah Royals season-ticket holder. Welcome back to Utah, Royals! While we lost the home-opener to the Chicago Red Stars, we won in spirit and support. The game was sold out, and so were the fans to the team, players, game, and community. Ohhh, AND, we did pick up our first W at home (and for the season) in our second game against the North Carolina Courage. Blazing return to Royalty 🔥🔥! 3. This week I was able to attend a workshop that brought together many different nursing departments and leaders from across University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics system. It's amazing what happens when you sit in the same room with other peers who are passionate, inspired, intelligent, creative, and supportive! It reminds me, why do we have to wait for an event to take place for magic to spark and change to happen? Why aren't we spending regular, daily time getting in front of one another...REALLY hearing what others are doing and accomplishing...AUTHENTICALLY celebrating wins...TRULY exploring big and small ideas over coffee...RESPECTFULLY challenging each other's assumptions...INTENTIONALLY encouraging steps and plights? We don't have to schedule when we will be exceptional colleagues and friends. Instead, we can live exceptionally by consistently showing up more fully and presently for our peers in all that we do. Combusting with simplicity 🔥🔥🔥!

💕Loving all the plaudits for Miley Cyrus after her 2024 Grammys performance.💕 It got me thinking, can we look at Miley’s journey in the music industry in the same light as many of us have been through as recruiters? 1. The new hire - bright, bushy tailed, makes a great impression, gets some early billings on the board and is one to watch. 2. The middle phase! Picks up some bad habits and tries to go against the grain. Looks to forego the rules (KPIs, skipping parts of the process, goes to work after a few nights out!!) does ok, but hasn’t carved out a long term career as yet. 3. Realises that processes allow you to work smarter, not harder. Combines their unique personality, experience and knowledge with a proven formula for success. Becomes THE consultant, the one everyone wants to listen to in team meetings and everyone wants to emulate on the leaders board. ⭐️Some get there quicker than others (it’s taken Miley 15 years to win a Grammy!) but stick to it long enough, learn from your mistakes, and master the process behind the personality, and you too could be in your flowers era!⭐️ Think about it - which Miley phase are you currently in? 🎙️

This is my prescription to you to celebrate your wins. Notice all the things that went well, that went right, and then take yourself out to celebrate! Your brain might want focus on Yeah but... I still feel "this way" Or Yeah but... I didn't get to xyz Or Yeah but... It doesn't look like the way I thought it would. That which you focus on expands. In these moments when your brain wants to take over and focus on "what went wrong", write out everything that went right... Like my clients noticing they've hit the highest revenue months yet during times when everyone is talking about the economy. Or getting to live in their paid off dream homes while traveling the world. Or having grown their dream team. Or getting to work with clients they adore and love who are positive-minded every single day! Or having gotten to live through their biggest fear and coming out on top! You may have had just as magical wins in 2023 that are hazy through the clouds of overthinking. I urge you to take 5 minutes today and write down the wins, and then celebrate yourself! Whether it's a walk in your favorite part of town, or taking yourself out for a yummy cup of coffee at your favorite cafe, buy yourself a new journal that lights you up, or treat yourself to a new outfit that makes you feel badass... CELEBRATE YOURSELF. Celebrate your wins! And celebrate your "fails" as lessons that are stepping stones bringing you even closer to who you'd like to embody. And the rest will follow, shift and expand with you Sending you lots of love as we unveil 2024! Remember - you are magic.

Rarely the First, More Likely the 7th Typically, Winning Secrets appear on Monday's. Not this week. Why? Our oldest daughter had an outdoor wedding. I had the privilege of officiating the wedding; very cool. The weather cooperated, and the reception was a blast! But here's the Winning part.... During the ceremony, the couple shot a flaming arrow into a target prepped to burst into flames, igniting a bowl of lighter fluid atop the target stand. Epic!  But not at first. It took 7 attempts, along with a fresh dousing of lighter fluid. When the target burst into flames, it was spectacular. The audience erupted into applause. I was so proud of the young couple's determination to make the unity event a success. Here's what struck me from that experience.  Has any endeavor in your personal or professional life that was memorable, meaningful, or impactful succeeded on the very first attempt? Very rarely. And that's okay.  It SHOULD require diligence and determination to be successful. It makes the achievement of greater worth, and those pulling for you will celebrate even more knowing what you overcame. One more thing.... There are ALWAYS people rooting for you to succeed, no matter what it feels like in the moment. They want you to be successful, and they're eager to celebrate with you. 20th March 2020 - UK locked down: - I had to cancel my wedding - due to take place on the 8th April 2020 - I had to cancel my honeymoon to Barbados - I lost half my income being furloughed 28th Aug 2021 - Got married in a local registry office 27th May 2023 - Became a mum of twin girls 24th April 2024 - Celebrated what we’ve achieved as a family with a joint honeymoon/first family holiday Why am I sharing this? No matter how small or big your win is, celebrate it. Don't be swayed by the negativity or shades thrown your way. Be bold enough to defend your successes and remember, you don't owe anyone an explanation. You own your space; dominate it confidently. Many so-called influencers are merely clout chasers. If you see them as omnipotent, you'll end up hurting yourself. They might have a large following, but in real life, they are not what they seem on social media. Their lives are often curated and filtered to present an illusion of perfection. Understand that they are not inherently better than you. Their follower count does not equate to personal value or success. The toxicity in this space can only harm you if you let it. Focus on celebrating your victories, no matter how big or small. Your win is yours alone and doesn't belong to anyone else. Embrace it, honor it, and let it fuel your journey forward. I emphasize again: no matter the size of your win, package it and celebrate it. Let anyone who disagrees go to hell. Your achievements deserve recognition, and it's important to take pride in them. Don't let the negativity of others dim your light or diminish your joy.
