🌟 Exciting times in the world of streaming and branding?! As a Production Executive who's experienced both sides of the coin, I'm fascinated by the dynamic relationship unfolding between streamers and brands. There's immense value to be found on both ends, and it's crucial to identify the key factors that elevate this collaboration.
For brands, what matters most is amplification, access to meaningful data, and cohesive marketing of their projects. They crave a meaningful connection with their audience. On the other hand, streamers prioritize entertainment that caters to their existing audience while expanding it further. Project integrity and financial commitment also play a pivotal role.
Interestingly, both sides share a common goal: delivering captivating content that resonates and engages viewers. Some platforms are truly grasping this concept. Imagine Entertainment, helmed by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer, engages proactively with brand partners to outline cost recoupment expectations and "who" shares viewing data. Streaming giant Roku Inc. is known for its generosity in this respect.
Despite the promising prospects, brands often face challenges in accessing viewership data, leading to uncertainty about the reach and impact of their content. However, there is hope. As subscription streamers embrace more advertising revenue streams, brand stakeholders anticipate greater openness in data sharing. This, in turn, could catalyze significant brand investment in premium content (films / series).
While brand funding remains a relatively small portion of marketers' budgets, there is a bubbling appetite for growth. Hollywood's involvement in sharing viewership data and embracing brands as promotional partners could be the trigger for substantial funding shifts. Brands need to make “good” on their side as well - get out of the way of the entertainment.
The aknowledgement of a fair value equation, where mutual contributions pave the way for successful collaborations, is key.
