Looking forward to working with all the other members as chair of a new committee tasked with reviewing media subsidies in Denmark and recommending ways to deliver future-proof, effective, transparent forms of subsidy for independent news media. Our focus over the next year is to provide a strong basis of ideas and possible recommendations as Danish citizens and their elected representatives consider how to evolve these subsidies. I also hope our work can eventually serve as an inspiration elsewhere, as the last round of reform to media subsidies in Denmark did back in 2014 (since used as a model elsewhere). Denmark has a rare combination of diverse, independent media primarily based on running robust commercial businesses but also benefiting from subsidies that support their work while protecting their autonomy. As the commercial businesses and the media use they are based on evolve, it is important that public policies meant to support them also adapt. https://lnkd.in/emYAjqhZ
This is immensely needed! As a member of the Danish Media Board I can say that we eagerly anticipate the update. Looking forward to discussing more when you return to Denmark 👏
Great! When reviewing please take into account the particular position of local media in Denmark. https://pure.au.dk/ws/portalfiles/portal/380783908/CMPF_Uncovering-news-deserts-in-Europe_LM4D-final-report.pdf
Develop a serviceable model in Denmark, then export it to the world.

3wI'm looking forward to our work in the committee. The task is immense and the solutions less than obvious. Thank you for agreeing to chair the work.
