What a great evening. For me, nothing beats hearing from innovative startup teams who are driven and passionate about making a difference in the world. And last night certainly didn’t disappoint. I was at the Shard for the CRL Accelerator Pitch Evening, where I joined an investor panel and was pitched to by six innovative startup teams, before offering them my advice and guidance. One of the companies I happen to already know really well – SamudraOceans – which is one of the startups supported by British Design Fund. My thanks and congratulations to all the teams who took part: ⚡The Tyre Collective and founders Hanson Cheng, Hugo Richardson and Siobhan Anderson - a startup focused on monitoring tyre wear with the sole purpose of spearheading zero-emission mobility. ⚡Cordon Technologies and founders Jamie Hutchinson and Annelise Brbora – a startup bringing a twist to sustainable farming, introducing a fusion between AI/robotics and vineyard farming with the aim to reduce costs and drive sustainability. ⚡E-Nano Ltd and founders Alan Jurnet Berteloot, Erwann Lompech--Leneveu - 龙艾寰 and Christian von Scheidt – a startup capturing soil and environmental data from sports fields to provide information on ground performance and its sustainability. ⚡KAIKAKU and founders David Sharp, Josef Chen and Piers Millar – a startup creating Quick-Service-Restaurants that are scalable as SaaS businesses, using integrated Robotics and AI solution to augment the restaurant workforce's productivity and serve consistent food at scale. ⚡Idaho Jones and founder Ece Filiz Vazquez Ruiz – a startup providing mothers with everything they need in their breastfeeding journey, with a range of innovative products and resources that offer a streamlined, supportive experience for every mother. ⚡SamudraOceans and founders Alexander Facey and Joyeeta Das – a startup that is driving sustainable ocean farming through its unique robotics and technology, enabling a highly effective, scalable and financially sustainable carbon capture solution. “The cleanest and cheapest fuel is the one you don't need!” 🌱   The co-founders of Telp, Matthias Reber and Urs Röthlisberger, developed an element to attach to trucks in order to reduce turbulences and thus, save fuel and CO2-emissions. It was that exact process of developing the element and bringing it to the market that inspired them to found their own business.   Their biggest learning so far has been to test the product with multiple transport companies and to find that there have been no risks detected.
