Most nonprofit leaders lack leadership training. We move up from the front line and know the "business" well but wonder why we feel inept as supervisors, managers and leaders. Recent research shows that a large percentage of employees believe empowerment in the workplace is essential. As a leader, have you considered empowering your employees? Empowerment can have a significant impact on many aspects of the workforce. It encourages employees to try new ways of doing things, learn new skills, and share their thoughts and ideas openly, without fear of judgement or worrying about the consequences should something not go quite well.
