Back in May, I spoke with The Wall Street Journal about the challenges Gen Z faces with respect to rising costs of living/education and inequities of opportunities. I also offered some solutions.

"The whole point of higher ed is: most of us aren't freakishly remarkable at 18. The whole point is to give unremarkable people a chance of being remarkable." kaboom!🎤🔥💣

Scott www.ClearAs.org is my small contribution to help, it's a very clear job search program that everything is free. Many younger people will, for the first time, be in a down job market and won't know what to do. www.JobSeeker.Training has all the files. It's going to be very hard for people, especially in the face of (think your expression was 'inflation orphans') who don't have appreciating stock or homes.

I totally understand where Scott is coming from and he’s absolutely correct. However, this feeds a lot into “generational victimhood” mentality. in addition to making it clear what challenges young people face it would be helpful to also point out that this is an opportunity to rise to the occasion and affect change. Every generation has had its challenges - maybe this is bigger than previous generations. But what remains the same is that if you consider yourself a constant victim then you’re setting yourself up for a life of failure.

Love the critical voice! But disagree on the share of vocational vs. higher education. How many graduates can the economy swallow? Too high graduate rates create one thing: mass unemployment. Better to have a solid and skilled workforce and create furthereducation opportunities.

Scott your voice in discussing these topics is so valuable. While there are other researchers and intellectuals also discussing this to a degree, your sardonic but ultimately full of cold truth style cuts through more than anyone else. Please keep on doing what you do. As a young person I am grateful for your leadership and you really are a role model to many 🙏🏻

A good solution would be to bridge the gap with mentorship and job training. Gen Z deserves a fair shot at their dreams.
