As the #MeltwaterSummit wraps, we're sharing some team highlights and learnings from our favorite session: PR & Communications in Higher Ed. (Ryan Reynolds was the keynote speaker, so that's saying something.) 1️⃣ Read the room: It's crucial to be in tune with the cultural conversation and know when it's the right time to listen rather than push for brand affinity. 2️⃣ Adapt to changing student attitudes: Students are increasingly pragmatic. They want to understand an institution's experiences and outcomes. Some of their least trusted sources are brand channels from universities, dubbed "slick marketing engines." 3️⃣ Address channel disconnect: YouTube is the channel most trusted by students, yet only 18% of higher ed marketers prioritize it. Readjust priorities to meet students where they are online. 4️⃣ Strategize for success: Develop a strategic plan that aligns with your university or department's key priorities each year. Focus on these stories and avoid the temptation to cater to everyone. We're so excited to share these themes with clients, and we can't wait until next year's Meltwater Summit! #meltwater #highered
