If you're joining an early-stage startup, your goal should be to make your job redundant. I know it sounds weird, but hear me out: Once your company gets some traction and their first customers, it's time to build the customer journey. Your job is to set things up so they run smoothly without you needing to be there all the time. To develop repeatable processes and materials that are either embedded into your product or part of an efficient self-serve motion. Miss this focus, and you risk ending up with a company that struggles to scale and a product that can't be self-sufficient.

Metvy town halls are always special as they give us the chance to interact with everyone who is working with us to achieve the organization's vision. We not only discuss the feedback but also the progress that we have made so far and what the roadmap looks like. This also creates complete transparency throughout the organization. This is one big advantage of working in a startup: you can always speak to the founders and understand the growth potential of the companies. You can learn by observing how they are managing multiple operations and juggling multiple hats. I strongly believe that students who are in the early phase of their career should work with at least one startup for a period of time, as it accelerates your learning curve.

Note to self and to-be founders: When you're in a 0-1 startup stage, it's like building a car from scratch. Apart from fellow nerds, nobody appreciates the journey of building it. Most people only celebrate once your car is ready and you start revving/accelerating it. That's where most of the vanity lies. Accelerating the car before it is ready can rip it apart. Resist falling for the vanity before the fundamentals are in check 🤞🏼 Surprisingly, most of your friends who are advising you when you're in 0-1 have worked in 10-100+ journeys entitled to a lot of guarantees which you're yet to ensure. Keep the blinders on and work towards the fundamentals so you can 🚀 smoothly!
