𝗕𝗢𝗞𝗔 𝗔𝘁𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 The engines of our diving support vessel BOKA Atlantis will run less frequently in the coming years. Not because of a lack of work – on the contrary – but because a set of powerful batteries was recently installed on board the vessel along the quay of the Boskalis Service Center in Rotterdam. The installation of this Energy Storage System will reduce the vessel’s fuel consumption and associated carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions by an average of up to twenty percent. The system also provides a power supply and energy storage facility while the BOKA Atlantis is docked and contributes to quieter and more efficient operations offshore.   The BOKA Atlantis is our first vessel retrofitted with a 450 kWh battery pack. Currently, our diving support vessel BOKA Da Vinci is also undergoing this “green intervention” in Rotterdam, and more powerful offshore vessels will follow later this year. 🇫🇮 🚢 LNG-powered: World's biggest cruise ship, Icon of the seas, begins sea trials Icon is the first ship in Royal Caribbean’s fleet that will use the more sustainable LNG fuel which is considered the cleanest burning fossil fuel available, resulting in virtually zero sulfur dioxides and particulates and a significant reduction in nitros oxides. Earlier this year, Tim Meyer, the CEO of Meyer Turku told Travel Weekly that LNG is the right fuel to use now, but it was also important to consider what may come in the future, so Icon was designed to ensure compatibility with future systems. #LNG #royalcaribbean #LNGasmarinefuel

Edouard De Keyser makes progress towards land after windshift 👇 At approximately 14:30 UTC, after being reached by the expected cold front, Edouard De Keyser on Solarwind has been able to point his bow towards Australia, he is currently due almost exactly north on a course that will take him closer to other ship and the option of assistance, should it ever be needed, as in his current position traffic is rare. Wind should not increase further from the current 30-35 knots average and will start to gently decrease in 24 hours. Sea state is likely to worsen for the next 12 hours before it starts get better too after 24-48 hours with things improving also if Edouard manages to sail further north. With no autopilot and tough sailing conditions Edouard is likely to have to take breaks to rest sailing and stopping when he gets tired. Congratulations to Silversea Cruises and MEYER WERFT GmbH & Co. KG for successfully putting another LNG-powered cruise ship on the water! According to Offshore Energy , the Silver Ray is fitted with dual-fuel LNG engines and fuel cells and a battery system to power the entire hotel operation, enabling the cruise vessel to eliminate pollutant emissions while the ship is in port. LNG is the clear candidate for vessels operating in ports and coastal areas, including the cruise sector. It far outperforms conventional marine fuels on a local emissions basis, which is particularly important regarding human health issues. LNG emits virtually no sulphur oxides (SOx) or particulate matter (PM) and, depending on the technology used, up to 95% fewer nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions than conventional marine fuel. And, when operating with LNG, the engine will provide reductions in GHG emissions of up to 23% on a Well-to-Wake basis, inclusive of methane emissions, compared to VLSFO today. The ship will benefit from LNG’s incremental pathway to decarbonisation via bio-LNG and renewable synthetic e-LNG and these green fuels continue to scale. Today our Twin Bell Saturation Diving Support Vessel (DSV) "Boka Atlantis" was plugged in to shore power during the inauguration of our brand new Shore Power Supply at the Boskalis Waalhaven deepwater facility in Port of Rotterdam, providing green energy to our vessel(s) mobilising at the quayside, reducing emissions in the port. The inauguration was conducted by representatives of Eneco Energy, Port of Rotterdam, City of Rotterdam and Boskalis. The new shore power installation is expected to generate 2 GWh of green electricity per year, resulting in an annual CO2 reduction of 1,600 tons. In addition, shore power contributes significantly to improving air quality by reducing particulate matter and nitrogen emissions and contributes positively to the living environment by reducing noise levels. Furthermore our DSV undergoes several upgrades, including installation of powerpacks (batteries) which provides hybrid drive capability which further reduces our carbon footprint during our diving operations offshore. #boskalis #sustainability
