Let's talk about vector databases 👨💻 Firstly, what are they ❓ A vector database is based on vector embeddings, which is a sort of data encoding carrying information that aids AI systems in interpreting data and in maintaining long-term memory. They are designed to store and manage data in vector format. Who uses vector databases? 🔍 Vector databases are for developers who want to create vector search powered solutions (used alot in AI). An application developer can use open-source models and foundational model services to generate embeddings. Why are they important and relevant? In the midst of 'the rise of GenAI' applications and builds, we need to store the meaning of unstructured data in a way which makes it easy for machines to process and understand.
