A Push To Quality: Now that FASTs are growing up, they are getting rid of their lower-performing content and replacing it with more premium content. The fact that studios are now licensing these sorts of shows to the FASTs helps too. This means that the notion that anyone who owns some content can magically stand up a FAST channel and monetize it is coming to an end. More Local Content: FASTs are adding in local news and other local programming. Most is coming from local broadcasters, the rest from streaming-only services. Last week was the 25th issue of The Format. That's almost a whole year since numero uno. 👀 As always we dived into the world of tech, data, gaming and web3. Here are some of the stories we found most interesting: ❌ TikTok is facing a potential ban in the US, a move that would have huge implications for all of the creators who rely on the platform. MeWe have suggested that the problem isn't specifically with TikTok and their relationship with the Chinese government, but rather an inherent flaw with the currnet design of social networks as a whole. Specifically the fact the company owns the users data, not the user... ✅ Telegram are empowering their users and content creators by rewarding the owners of channels where ads are being shown. This is a great creator monetisation opportunity. The problem? They are only getting 50% of the ad revenue. As someone in our Telegram channel put best... Right idea. Wrong math. 🎮 Are Gen Alpha 'the creation generation'? Their relationship with 'creation games' like Roblox, Fortnite and Minecraft, and the ways they use these games to learn, certainly suggests that they could be. Maybe these games should have a more structured role in the education system of the next generation?
