SUPPORTING MEN'S HEALTH WEEK 2024 - JUNE 10-16, 2024 #MENSHEALTHWEEK In the world of work, businesses have a responsibility to safeguard the health of their employees. Beyond being a basic requirement, there is also a clear business case for doing so, from preventing staff absence and reducing staff turnover, to helping people feel ready to reach their full potential. CORE is supporting #MENSHEALTHWEEK and focusing on the importance of making mental health and wellbeing for all a priority. There are a number of small things we already do that hopefully make a big difference. 1. We offer employees flexible work scheduling to help them manage the demands they face both inside and outside of work. 2. We provide opportunities for continuing education, and leadership development. 3. We believe it is incredibly important that our managers and team leaders have an open-door policy and are available to discuss mental health concerns, and that they need to be genuine about it. Construction work has a variety of pressures from tight contracts to long hours, and time away from loved ones and the intense work load can often have an effect on our mental health. Unfortunately, our mainly male workforce has long been known to contain workers who are reluctant to talk about their mental health, but we really want to help to eliminate the stigma, tackle the silence surrounding mental ill-health and embed a positive culture. A positive work environment helps to improve performance and increase productivity.
