How to Use Conditions in AsciiDoc for Custom Content AsciiDoc is great for making documents that change based on who's reading them. Let's say you create a manual for an electric car. The car comes with different options, like choosing between leather and fabric seats. So you want your manual to match these choices, showing only the info that matters to the car owner. That's where AsciiDoc's conditions come in. With conditions, you can choose to show certain parts of your document only if they match the reader's choices. First, you set up a special note (called an attribute) for options like leather seats. Then, you write a rule (called a condition) that uses this note to decide if some parts of the manual should be shown or not. Here's how to do it step by step: 1. Make a note for an option at the beginning of your document, like this for leather seats: :leather-seats: 2. Write a rule that shows certain instructions only for leather seats: ifdef::leather-seats[] Here's how to take care of your leather seats... endif::[] Now, those care instructions will only appear if the reader's car has leather seats, making the manual more relevant to them. This method is a clever way to ensure your document fits exactly what the reader has, making the information more useful and focused. Also, it allows you to create multiple versions from a single master document.
