As Senior Systems Engineer at United Musculoskeletal Partners, you'll be on a team building a national technology platform to support orthopedics groups across the country. This encompasses everything from architecture and design to implementation and ongoing maintenance and support of infrastructure systems and associated technologies including operating systems, storage, virtualization, networks and security in both on premise and cloud hosted environments. This includes performance of routine tasks including daily systems administration and backups as well as break/fix support across all of these areas. With minimal supervision, leads the implementation of enhancements, updates, upgrades and patches to ensure equipment is preventively maintained, running properly and protected from security threats. Ensures users are kept informed of changes on a timely basis. Develops and executes test plans to ensure updates are fully tested before going live. Performs spot checks in key areas/scenarios to ensure systems are up-to date as well as to minimize risk to ongoing operations.Monitors and reports on processes, uptime, performance, utilization and capacity of systems and technologies. Collects and analyzes key performance metrics in order to recommend improvements in those systems and technologies or their associated process.Executes and monitors equipment backups to ensure data and applications are safeguarded and can be restored to establish normal operation after an incident or disaster.Troubleshoots complex issues within and outside of the SME's domain. Provides or obtains their timely resolution. Analyzes failures, identifies root cause and implements and documents short and long-term corrective actions. Monitors infrastructure related licensing and maintenance and support contracts, including coordinating support from 3rd party service providers.Writes and maintains technical documentation related to networking and infrastructure and updates as appropriate. I prefer to see what you worked on for each role instead of one summary of systems and hardware used. If you see something in the "desired" or "required" skills section of a job description that you have worked on, make sure to add it to your resume (if you're comfortable discussing it). #GetHiredResume

Question: How do look desirable to employers when you have no hands on experience other than education? I have been applying for desktop support - tier level one jobs and getting turned down because I lack the experience they require. If that type of job is generally the job to start your IT career. How are you expected to have any experience?
