Totally corny, but made me laugh 😆 It's also very un-brand if you go by Zomato's usual style or template, but that's perhaps intended - the very idea is to lampoon political flex banners/print ads. That they managed to do it across two languages is commendable (even though I could point out a couple of inconsistencies and errors in the Tamil version). It's clear that the Zomato marketing team is having a good time, but the mere shock value of seeing something so bizarre would perhaps get them the eyeballs and perhaps signups for Gold too :) #marketing #advertising
how to avail Zomato Gold offer? 😋 can someone help? i dont have the newspaper with me
I have always maintained, Zomato is an Advertising/Branding Agency that also does food delivery
Fun stuff. Originally done over a decade back by AIB [All India Bakchod] for their weekly news spoof show for Disney/ Hotstar... https://www.buzzfeed.com/imaansheikh/poster-boys-for-political-parody
On a lighter note......after spending so much money and effort (and chutzpah!) o this campaign, they couldn't find someone to tell them the Tamizh word for "birthday"? :-)
Over these 16 years Zomato made food available at doorstep. People are consuming lots of calories without burning any which they would have if they would made some efforts to go to restaurant. Meanwhile Deepinder Goyal lost almost 16 kgs ( 15 kgs in 4 years). Zomato India should introduce a calorie wallet which people can topup by sharing calories they burned by any sort of workout, or simply linking their fitness band and get some reward on healthy food products. 🤠
Almost every senior leader I worked with would have slammed this idea, but clearly the world is beyond them and their knowledge of what might get approved.
But whyyy didn't they use professional translators 🥲🥲
3 Cheers for Zomato leaders to approve this. Great are those cultures which allow production and backing of bold ideas.
Traditional brands would possibly never let this creative pass given the impact it could have on imagery attributes for the brand and equity thereof and inconsistency with established brand codes. What's your take on what this does for zomato's imagery / equity?

2wIt's an irony that just writing an ad in shuddh hindi (which is also not fully translated as they left the word company), can be considered creative and funny. In my opinion, the much better hook was the number '16' which they didn't even touched or thought about. In our bollywood, 'solah' is so famous with all the songs with 'solah baras' and all. It's even popular in the regional languages also. I think our bar for good advertising is getting lower everyday and we are even considering memes and jokes as creative ads. Just my personal POV, please feel free to be disagreed.
