🌱 How can the transition to a sustainable economy and society succeed? Do we need gentle reforms or radical ideas? And who should pay for it?   Among the motto "Now more than ever" these theses have been discussed at this year's Sustainability Summit organized by Sueddeutsche Zeitung in Munich.   Lukas Birn shared his perspective on the role of product innovation and the dangers of greenwashing accusations with esteemed business representatives as part of the executive dinner. A short summary: ➡️Sustainable product development is highly needed for a climate-friendly economy ➡️Innovation must take place along the entire product life cycle ➡️Transparency in the product life cycle counteracts unjustified greenwashing accusations   🙏 Many thanks for the excellent organization and inspiring conversations SZGipfel! #GetTheFutureYouWant #SZGipfel24 #SustainableTransformation #Sustainability Judith Wittwer Herter Florian Eder Jan Salz Lukas Birn Marco Meyer Stefan Sack Guido Wendt Katharina Mühlbauer

Dear Julia, I agree that the transition to a sustainable economy is essential, but it's a complex challenge requiring a blend of reforms and radical ideas. Incremental changes can build momentum, but bold innovations are necessary to address the urgent climate crisis effectively. The financial burden is another aspect. While businesses should lead with investments in sustainable practices, government incentives and public-private partnerships can distribute costs more equitably. 🌱💡 However, I have doubts about our current government's ability to lead this charge effectively. In my experience, the pressure for economic reforms often sidelines sustainability initiatives. Lukas' emphasis on product innovation is spot on. Let's remain vigilant against superficial greenwashing. Genuine sustainability should be integrated into every stage of the product life cycle to make a impact. 🌿
