🗑️Are we ushering in a new era of "digital landfill"? Digital landfill is a term I was introduced to all the way back in 2011 by Tim Malbon, at Silicon Beach (brilliant conference organised by Matt Desmier). Back then, the context was around UGC focused marketing campaigns by bread companies and the like. But I've thought about the phrase a lot since then. Both in terms of reflecting on my own work and the daily firehose of content we all subject ourselves to. From a #GamesIndustry perspective, I consider it every week, when I get Thomas Bidaux's ICO Partners Steam newsletter, informing me of the 200-300 new games released EVERY.SINGLE.WEEK (just on Steam) It's funny that at the time, back in 2011, it was hard to imagine the issue getting any more prolific than it already was. But here we are *cough*AI*ahem*. The simple question "is this just more digital landfill?" is a great and simple qualifier for assessing our campaign and content ideas... Doesn't always work though... *clicks post button* 👀
