Eco-Tours An eco-tour is a specialised form of adventure or special-interest travel that empasises responsible exploration, discovery and conservation of the world and natural resouces. The term "Eco-tourism" was coined in the 1980's by a Mexican ecology econimist, and the idea has been a growth area for organised tours ever since. For eco-tourism to be true to its objectives, both the tour participant and the ecology of the destination must benefit. In other words, eco-tourism involves not just visiting natural areas, but also contributing, in a mesningful way, to their perservation and conservation. [Source: IATA].

Further more,in some countries where private air transport sectors have tried to compensate the high costs of air transport which is expensive and inconvenient, The government prefers supporting a national airline to the detriment of small airlines that create competition. in my own opinion #Removal of visa restriction #Infrastructure development #vast exposure #Mitigating external demand dependence #Regulation air transport costs would act catalyst to widen the intra-Africa tourism for both economic growth and integration.

Associate Professor of Wildlife Ecology and Management at Jimma University, Co-founder and director of Threatened Species Conservation (TSC) in Ethiopia.
There are two species of jackals (Canis adustus and Canis mesomelas) and two species of wolves (Canis lupaster and Canis simensis) in Africa. Whereas the two jackal species are found in Southern, Central, and Eastern Africa, the two wolf species are only found in Northern and Eastern Africa. Ethiopia is the only country in Africa to possess all four of the species. If properly promoted and managed, I think this can be one of the potential for ecotourism development in the country.

"The industry is not perfect, but it has growing potential. It is very important to recognize and choose responsible operators and learn how to be a responsible #shark watcher. People should look for red flags and signs of responsible activities when choosing shark watching tours and comply with codes of conduct." - Lâl Deniz Basok, an Ocean Equity Lab member at Simon Fraser University talks about her research on #SharkEcotourism and #SocialEquity to celebrate #WorldOceansWeek. Learn more about Lâl's work below:
Lal Basok is a MRM student in #SFU's Ocean Equity Lab studying how to apply sustainable and equitable management practices to shark #ecotourism so both local communities and sharks can benefit from the industry. “Sharks already have a bad reputation because of their presentation in popular culture and their predatory nature. Shark watching participants can be encouraged to foster positive environmental behaviours, increase their engagement in conservation activities and learn more about shark #ecology.” Read more: https://ow.ly/vcwX50S9WxE #WorldOceanWeek #WorldOceansDay Simon Fraser University
