February is National Youth Leadership Month, aimed at encouraging young people to take on leadership roles in their communities. In addition to attending our program every week, students can also opt-in to our Delegation leadership program. Delegates receive additional workshops in effective communication, active listening, goal setting, media training, and more. Delegates also get to travel and represent Reality Changers at community events. Had the great pleasure of facilitating another leadership development class with my good friend Steven Sibenaller. As facilitators, we always try to drive home that leadership is not just a military endeavor, but a translatable skill set that you can build and improve upon you whole life. Covering topics like building winning teams, conflict resolution, and the differences between counseling, mentoring and coaching are just a few of the subject these Sailor receive. I’m not sure if there are jobs outside the military that let you facilitate in depth discussion on leadership topics, but if there is I am all in!
