Reddit, Inc. went public earlier in March, and it's first earnings call CEO Steve Huffman attributed this growth to an increase in Reddit’s daily active user base due to a boost in search traffic from Google. I found this interesting because as a juxtaposition, many companies are crying foul over Google's Search Core Updates which are now pushing traffic to certain larger publisher sites. The main issue is a lack of transparency of what's changed and why in the eyes of many SEO consultants https://lnkd.in/gqVnjkAD Regardless, it's clear Reddit is a winner 🏆 of these changes. "Huffman said the bump in logged-out traffic came disproportionately from search. It was prompted not by the partnership with Google that Reddit announced in February, but by improvements the platform has made to its page loading speeds, which improves its Google Search rankings." While this maybe true, I think there will be conspiracy theorists out there who will be skeptical given that partnership agreement which allows among other things, Google to license Reddit's user-generated content for model training.

TikTok and Google Explore Partnership to Boost Search Discovery Some interesting news on the search front - according to a new report from Business Insider, TikTok, and Google are currently exploring a partnership that would integrate Google search prompts and potentially even results into TikTok's own in-app search experience. As per the report, some TikTok users are seeing a new prompt within search results that includes a call-to-action to "See more on Google," essentially driving users from TikTok search to Google to continue their query. While full details are not confirmed, this could be a strategic move for both companies: It enables Google to maintain search dominance and relevance, especially with younger audiences who increasingly use TikTok for discovery. For TikTok, it provides a connection to broader search and content discovery options beyond its own platform. There also may be potential data-sharing benefits. It'll be interesting to see how this develops and if it does become an official integration. As digital marketers, it's valuable to understand where users are going for discovery and how platforms like TikTok and Google interact. Could this end up impacting SEO and driving more Google traffic? Time will tell, but it highlights the rising challenge of TikTok as a search engine and how Google is responding. TikTok's growing influence on Gen Z's search habits is causing even Google to take notice. The platform's short-form videos are increasingly being prioritized in Google's search results, highlighting the need for more short-form video content in search. This new partnership presents a unique opportunity for both companies to learn about new search behaviors and adapt to the changing landscape. Google (like any smart organization) recognizes the importance of staying relevant, especially among the younger demographic. They don't want the term 'googling' as a verb to fade into obscurity. We've seen Google take measures to remain top-of-mind before, like their payments to be the default search engine in Safari. And while antitrust arguments point towards Google's search monopoly, TikTok holds genuine potential to disrupt that dominance, compelling Google to consider strategic partnerships and advertising endeavors. Google has become ubiquitous in searching or browsing the internet, so much so that it has become a verb. However, Google is losing ground among Gen-Z, and surprisingly enough, not to a different browser or search engine. Their search engine/browser of choice? Social media apps and YouTube. #GENZ #Google #SearchEngine #TIKTOK #YouTube

If you had any doubt that TikTok IS a search engine platform as well as a social media platform this should clear that right up! “In our studies, something like almost 40% of young people, when they’re looking for a place for lunch, they don’t go to Google Maps or Search. They go to TikTok or Instagram.” Start optimizing your business on TikTok if you haven't taken it seriously yet. As TikTok integrates more search and shop features, we are going to see something that could really compete with the likes of Amazon. 👀 #tiktok #socialmediamarketing #google #seo https://lnkd.in/ghpBXTYV

Don't trust on stats. Every year I read that TikTok is the next big search engine after Google. This year I started using it for research purposes. I used both apps and the desktop TikTok version. It's simple PATHETIC. It's not quick to understand keywords. it's been a week since I used multiple keywords but still the same result for all keywords. I also use Google to search for results from TikTok but nothing changes. Pinterest is far superior to TikTok. it's algo is super quick. It starts showing you exact results after one or two refreshes.

TikTok is entering Google relm with Image Search. Last week, TikTok quietly rolled out image search capabilities within TikTok Shop. This is a significant move into search territory dominated by Google. Last year, Tiktok partnered with Google to let it index its videos for search results. Now, they are evolving into competitors. This image search feature allows users to search for products using images rather than keywords and is a clear play to capture e-commerce search volume. Already, Google is considering TikTok as its major competitor for search as most Gen Z users of TikTok are using it as a discovery platform.

TikTok and Google joining forces? TikTok is experimenting with integrating Google search results into its platform, as some users have spotted the discreet Google logo on TikTok's search pages. TikTok is quick to clarify that it's not endorsing or taking responsibility for Google's search results. This official confirmation opens up intriguing possibilities. Is this a strategic move to redirect search traffic from TikTok back to Google? Google's keeping mum on the financial details, leaving us all wondering if they're secretly sending each other virtual handshakes or just sharing funny cat videos. It's clear that this could reshape the digital landscape and user web navigation. Tech giants and social media platforms are evolving, and we're here for the ride! 🚀 #TechTrends #DigitalEcosystem #googleads #tiktok https://rb.gy/tinqc

Well this is an interesting twist 🤔 The value of seeing TikTok videos in your Google search results is obvious. Think about how you see YouTube videos when you search today... now imagine you also see the top TikTok's on that same topic. But this is the reverse, users will see Google search results when they are searching on TikTok. The partnership will integrate Google search prompts, and possibly eventually results, into TikTok’s own search stream. Users are now seeing a new prompt appear when they search which includes a CTA to expand their search on Google. The benefit to Google is very obvious, but I'm not so sure what TikTok gets out of this. Potentially a more robust discovery tool for users but I'm not sure I would want to traffic to Google if I'm quickly becoming a search competitor. This is a bit of a head scratcher to me. https://lnkd.in/ggn7uPjC
