We're excited to announce our company, Tessl! We’re reimagining software development for the AI era, and helping shape a new software development paradigm we call AI Native Software Development.
The AI development tools we use today are powerful and novel, and we should all invest in embracing them - but they are really only the beginning. They optimize dev workflows created before the LLM revolution, bolting on AI at various spots. To tap the true potential of AI-powered dev, we need to rethink these workflows from first principles, assuming AI is built in. This is what we mean by AI Native development.

Future-Proofing Development with Low-Code/No-Code Solutions in the Age of AI Here's how low-code/no-code solutions are addressing the developer shortage and transforming application development. https://lnkd.in/erYhT4NQ#lowcode
Is Devin taking over web development jobs?! 🤔
Hello MAT Software community! 👋 It's been a while since our last post, but we're back with some exciting news and insights on the latest web development trends and emerging technologies shaping our industry! 🌐✨
By now, you've probably heard about "Devin," the AI software engineer that can write, test, and debug code autonomously. It's true! Devin's capabilities are truly remarkable, surpassing even ChatGPT-4 by achieving a score of 13.4% in solving real GitHub issues, compared to ChatGPT-4's score of 3%.
Now, you might be wondering, should every developer be worried about Devin? 🤔
Nope! 😃
The truth is, AI will never replace developers. Instead, it's the people who leverage AI tools like Devin that will replace those who don't. This is actually good news for all of us! We can harness the power of tools like ChatGPT and the upcoming Devin to increase our productivity without exhausting ourselves.
MAT Software has curated a few links just for you. These resources will help you learn and adapt quickly:

Are we moving towards a world where product specifications is the new source code and LLMs polyglot compilers?
I just listened to this new podcast from Tessl. Everything they say resonates with my experience with AI coding, specially since the release of Claude 3.5.
Main takeaways:
- We are moving from code-centric to spec-centric software development. We will have a mean of specifying what it is that we need and AI will provide implementation.
- Software is all about bringing new ideas to life in the digital world. As implementations (coding) become more accessible and cost-effective, more people will have the power to materialize their ideas!
- Developers most probably will turn into architects or product owners
- Code is more robust to potential LLM hallucinations because of it's verifiability.
"AI native development software will happen. It is too dramatic, the ability for a machine to generate code is so powerful that there's no way that the correct way to develop software is the same as it was today" Guy PodjarnySimon Maple looking forward to the next episodes!
Thoughts from Codingscape CTO Jimmy Jacobson on AI-first development🤖🤖🤖
"I’m excited about AI-first development.
It’s an innovative (and fun!) approach to software development that has the potential to improve efficiency, foster creativity, and stay competitive.
Here’s what it looks like:
1/ Initiate a conversation with an LLM and lay out some business requirements.
2/ Break down those requirements into concise bullet points until the entire project’s framework is mapped out.
3/ Feed those bullet points to the LLM, which will generate code snippets and program components based on that framework.
4/ Test those code snippets and components to ensure that they work, then integrate them into your project.
I recently came across an incredibly creative developer who used this method with success.
He chose to work with a new-to-him framework, Vue.js, as a challenge.
Throughout the project, he instructed the LLM to write code, and often asked it to explain the code or to rewrite it to better match inputs and outputs. Which led him to learn the Vue.js framework on the go.
And this AI-first approach isn’t limited to specific domains.
I've heard stories from developers in various fields, from networking to game development, all leveraging this method to become more efficient and creative.
Technology moves fast.
Embracing AI-first development might be the key to making strides and securing a competitive edge.
That’s the trend I’m seeing right now.
Have you seen this in action? Let me know 🤔 👇"

A few years ago, I believed that creating a good product involved writing a lot of code.
Structured code, yes.
Intentional code, absolutely.
But nevertheless, a fair amount of code.
Today, I am not so sure anymore.
You don’t need code to produce an MVP.
You don’t need code to use AI.
You don’t need code to create and ship SaaS.
Platforms and tools can help anyone do that without writing a single line of code.
Some call this the natural evolution of software development.
From punch cards to low-level code.
From low-level code to high-level code.
From high-level code to no-code.
But there is a general unease when certain tasks don’t involve extensive coding.
Maybe no-code platforms cannot do everything yet.
Maybe there is a perception of a lack of control over the details.
Maybe there is a certain glamour in idolizing people who code from those that cannot.
In reality, what they allow you to do is:
- Ideate.
- Solve problems.
- Focus on creativity and user experience.
This doesn’t mean abandoning the craft.
It just means empowering more and more of us to shape the future and have fun doing so.
Unlock the power of low-code development this year! 📈
🚨 Low-code emerging as a transformative force, empowering experts to create sophisticated applications without extensive coding.
These changes are accelerating the speed of app development, building stronger softwares with quick adaptation.
By integrating advanced capabilities like AI, these platforms are driving the creation of smarter, more automated applications. 💻

I am now personally more convinced than ever, that Application Developers writing #code to build Enterprise Application Software, is fast coming to its end!
Coding was good while it lasted but there you have it. It's time to start tearing up the books on application software programming and stop beating around the bush on calling it as it is. You don't need code (much) any more to build advanced productive enterprise user and client applications. Nor should you have to stomach the growing legacy code strangulation and extortionate TCO (total cost of ownership), that comes with it.
Some predict this "build without code" space growing to $30bn-$50bn over the next 3-4 years. Whilst I am predicting it to grow at least twice that much as I witness Generative Ai accelerating this entire narrative. The lowcode/nocode platform vendors and their partners are already bringing crucial Generative Ai use cases to the market as their platforms are able to immediately ingest #GenAi solutions on secure, transparent, explainable and governed platforms. Both on the application build side and on the solutions side. Whilst swathes of the industry are still trying to work out what's real and what's not, with all the risks, the lowcode/nocode vendors are already moving serious Gen AI use cases into production!
And to be clear, this is not to be confused with System developers/coders whom will remain in high demand for many moons to come.
My recent visits and communications with some of the global leaders in this space, including vendors and their customers, confirm this is more than real. I will be sharing more in due course.
Not convinced? Be careful because you will quickly be getting left behind.
