As it's happened to a few of us in the ad game, I was laid off this past spring. So, at the beginning of the summer, in between a return to #freelance, figuring out the next chapter and roaming the country, I went about creating a pet project called #SUMMERofANGELO. It's a self written, directed and edited (and "acted" in) episodic series of sorts "documenting" my post involuntary unemployment/personal SELF-discovery and exploration period. **What is ROAS?** 🤔 ROAS stands for Return on Ad Spend. This video is a glimpse of an ad I edited about the book "How to Increase Your ROAS" by Sannidhya Baweja. 📚 This project took me a significant amount of time and thought. 🕒 For this 10-second ad, I invested around 6 hours. As video editors, we often overthink our work, especially when it involves complex animations. 🎨 I used to spend a lot of time deliberating over each detail, which sometimes led to unnecessary stress and delays. 😓 Back then, I overthought this video a lot. It's not that it was edited perfectly; rather, I spent too much time thinking about each aspect. This overthinking could have led to mistakes. ❌ Now, I'm slowly realizing that we don't need to overthink things. One of my favorite things about the creative process is the polishing that happens from raw footage to final clip. It's tedious, but there is a lot to discover in the frames. The sign in this clip is fully animated, lights included! Nothing was hanging above the car, just plenty of negative space. Everyone had to trust the vision of the VFX sign that wasn't there yet.
