I’m excited to introduce my new company, Tessl! We’re reimagining software development for the AI era, and helping shape a new software development paradigm we call 𝐀𝐈 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭. The AI tools we use for development today are novel and powerful, and we should all invest in embracing them - but they are only the beginning. They optimize dev workflows created before the LLM revolution, 𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐈 at various spots. To tap the true potential of AI-powered dev, we need to rethink these workflows from first principles, assuming 𝐀𝐈 𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐢𝐧. This is what we mean by AI Native development. I’ve linked to our launch blog post in the comments, as well as our new podcast. In both, we’ll explore AI Assisted dev tools and what AI Native Software Development is, and how the two will connect. Over time, you’ll see Tessl offering tools to help make this new software development paradigm a reality. On a personal note, choosing to found another company wasn’t an easy call. My passion for Snyk and Developer Security is as strong as ever, the Snyk team and product continue to be superb, and I love the broadened commitment to AI Trust - so much growth is still ahead!  And yet, I’m an entrepreneur at heart, and the potential to transform software development won me over :)  I transitioned to an active board role at Snyk at the start of the year, and continue to support Peter and the exec team as I focus on building Tessl. I am humbled by having some of the best people I’ve ever worked with join me in forming Tessl, and I look forward to exploring this new era for software development with them and all of you, and to help serve developers in a new, AI Native way. Is there a forum or community where to discuss?

Congratulations on the launch Guy and team! Exciting to see the big idea being shared with the world. Question: "Snyk" had a great (hidden) meaning - where does the name Tessl come from?

This looks really exciting! We are looking forward to testing Tessl and sharing our findings with the community.

Super excited for your startup, GL HF! I think this is exactly the way. E.g. our Codeium code auto-complete pilot was anything but "users touting huge productivity boosts" - we are now wrapping it up but it's essentially a failure, typing the code is pretty much never our bottleneck. (Except when I go make a MR to our FE, barely knowing any typescript - then it's nice - and to juggle crazy verbose terraform yamls.) While on holiday I started exploring a chat-centric coding interface instead, essentially getting a pair programmer - https://github.com/pasky/claude.vim . Joe Holdcroft is that similar to what you are after, or a different direction (more like a "gitlab for AI-written projects")?

To be "native" and "built-in" AI software engineering must be rooted in a principled knowledge paradigm encompassing facts (environments), concepts (purposes), and categories (systems) https://caminao.blog/knowledge-management-booklet/a-knowledge-engineering-framework/

Congrats! Love a company so new everyone has the same creases on the t-shirts that just came out of the box! You always do such a great job of looking at new technology and thinking about what it takes for human teams to take advantage of them. It should be obvious, but bridging the technology and the human empathy is so hard. Looking forward to learning more and seeing the inevitable success!
