Donations to your Alumni & core values Do you give to your college alumni? Many of us do. We have a desire to give back to the organization that gave us the foundation to achieve so much. But, are you being a responsible donor? Have you been on your college campus lately? If not, it may be quite different from what you remember. When we donate to Universities (or any non-profit) shouldn't we be responsible donors & understand what that organization's core values are? And, I don't mean what's published on their website. I mean, what is really happening IN THE CLASSROOM and ON CAMPUS. Are professors teaching students to engage in thoughtful disagreement of alternative viewpoints? Or, are they promoting an ideology that would make you question if your values really align with theirs? Donations to Universities rose 7% to a record $53 Billion! With that amount of money comes tremendous power....and responsibility. As donors, let's step back for a moment, take a deep breath and be sure that our core values still align with our Alma Mater. If they don't, find another non-profit & let your Alma Mater know they have strayed too far from their true purpose. Only by challenging the process can we ensure that our donations align with our core values.

Difficult Dialogues National Resource Center I rarely (never) post fundraising notices. Today, I ask you to consider donating to the Difficult Dialogue National Resource Center (DDNRC). Why? First, because I care deeply about and am indebted to Dialogue and to the work of the DDNRC. The evolving practice of Dialogue is integral to my identity -- to who I am and to how I try to live my life; quite simply, it has made me a better person. Second, DDNRC’s charge, to facilitate meaningful approaches to (in)justice and (in)equity, is increasingly crucial across the globe. I believe that many can benefit from honing how we work across difference, particularly in the context of historical conflict. While Dialogue is often linked to student experiences, institutional members at all levels can and should benefit. Dialogue helped me become a better educator; a person more capable of hearing, holding, and reflecting on perspectives different from mine. Dialogue transformed my relationships with students, opening me up to learning tremendously from them, and more importantly, becoming acquainted with the whole person sitting beside me. And, of course, reciprocally, they learned about me. Dialogue inspired trust and transformation. So today I ask that everyone who can, especially folks who experienced Occidental College’s Dialogue, to consider a donation to DDNRC at the following link https://lnkd.in/gSyAX5uq. With great respect and gratitude, J.

When you give deserving, but disadvantaged students the gift of education, you change their lives forever. Without your support, Kiara might have dropped out of high school or not applied to college for financial reasons. But because of you, she now has the opportunity for a better future. As a child of immigrant parents, the statistics were not in Kiara's favor. But with her resilience, hard work, and the support of generous donors like you, Kiara has been given opportunities she may not have otherwise. When you help high-school students like Kiara through Beyond Backpacks, First Graduate’s annual back-to-school campaign, you are ensuring she has a chance for success. Donate to Beyond Backpacks, First Graduate’s annual back-to-school campaign, so first-generation students have the tools they need to thrive. Best of all, donations given through September 1 will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000 by a generous donor! https://buff.ly/45oRyPN #donate #firstgen #collegegrad
