EV Dismantling Regulations Expected for Recyclers https://bit.ly/3U6Nwcg Within the traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) auto recycling industry, the training required to properly dismantle vehicles is expansive as recyclers need to be continually trained about new technological advances in today’s high-tech vehicles.

With electric vehicle sales growing around the world and almost one in every three cars sold in China being electric, the positive impact that EVs bring mustn't be diminished by the environmental cost of processes and materials used to make EVs. Electric motors contain raw materials and have a larger carbon footprint than combustion engines. Current recycling methods have proven inefficient and unsustainable, but a new method has been revealed that will reduce raw material imports and extractions - improving the sustainability of these vehicles. https://lnkd.in/gcdKFWZD

Economic incentives frequently serve as the crucial driving force for the extensive implementation of sustainable initiatives. EV battery recycling is a good example. Beyond offering environmental benefits, it creates a closed-loop system for retrieving valuable metals like lithium, cobalt, nickel, and rare earth elements, ultimately driving resource security and economic opportunity. The transition to car electrification is accelerating and EV markets are rapidly expanding. But what will happen to all those batteries in 10 years? Carmakers, battery producers, and miners are partnering and investing in recycling capabilities to secure supply chains and power EVs. However, it's unclear which recycling process will be required. The logistics and business models for recycling materials from scrap and from end-of-life batteries are very different. Our CEO Mathias Miedreich expects the market will bifurcate: “It’s a question for companies like us where to put your battery facilities,” he recently told the Financial Times. “Should you put it close to the battery world or should you put it close to where the [car manufacturers] develop their circular loop?
