UC Berkeley grads— I'm excited to announce the launch of Foundation Capital Cal Build. Our objective is to support more Cal grads in their journey to build and scale successful companies. If you're a recent startup founder or planning to become one in the next year, we invite you to apply for our first cohort by the end of July. We're proud to have invested in many Cal-founded companies, including Tubi, TubeMogul, Inc., SafelyYou, Conviva, Anyscale, CaptivateIQ, Arize AI, and many others. Every month, we'll select 10 new Cal founders to join our program, offering exclusive in-person and virtual events, direct mentorship from me and the Foundation investment team, office space, and more—completely free, with no equity required. Our inaugural cohort for Bay Area Cal grads starts in mid-August, with plans to expand to additional cities soon! 📝 Application link in comments.

This is a fantastic announcement for all the Cal Bears out there with entrepreneurial dreams. Here's why I found it exciting: Supporting Cal Founders: It's clear Foundation Capital is passionate about empowering Cal graduates to build successful companies. This is a great initiative for the Berkeley startup community. Focus on Early-Stage Founders: Targeting recent founders or those planning to launch within a year shows a commitment to nurturing new ventures. Top-Tier Benefits: Free access to events, mentorship, office space, and the expertise of the Foundation Capital team - that's an incredible value proposition for any young founder. No Equity Required: This removes a major barrier for early-stage founders and allows them to focus on building their vision. Expanding Program: Starting in the Bay Area and reaching out to other cities - this has the potential to impact a huge pool of talented Cal graduates!
