This is becoming common nowadays. We see this almost “every week” in our places of work, and having employees stay aware of these criminal activities cannot be overemphasized or overlooked. 👀 Employees needs to be trained regularly to know more about cybersecurity, and putting the required measures in place like 2FA can be helpful to stop unauthorized access to user accounts, company data and services. 🔐🔐 #cybersecurityawareness #identityprotection

Staff training and communication between IT and senior management are crucial for preventing cybercrime. After completing an intense Cyber bootcamp with #Firebrand, I now possess the knowledge and skills necessary to protect business assets and staff against cyber threats. With 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, I understand the importance of cyber protection. Cybercriminals use increasingly advanced methods, and until all departments work cohesively with educated links and proper training, businesses will remain vulnerable. Consider taking out an insurance policy to protect against cybercrime and ensure a prompt response and necessary support. Remember, cybercriminals work 24/7 from all over the world.

This is crazy! We see too often hours companies do not implement proper security protocols until their is some sort of data breach, or cyber attack or a successful phish, but by then it’s too late This is real! All employers out there, it’s imperative that all employees receive basic cybersecurity training to avoid scenarios like this 😬. KnowBe4 has great training modules for all types of security awareness trainings to help avoid things like this. Oh and of course MFA 🤣

Confidence Staveley A troubling new phishing tactic has emerged on LinkedIn where scammers post fake employee announcements to defraud companies. This scam reminds us that social engineering is a growing threat, even on networks we trust. It highlights the need for heightened vigilance implementing safeguards, verifying changes, and scrutinizing requests. We all must stay alert to new fraud tactics and spread awareness to help others avoid becoming victims too. Please be careful on LinkedIn and other sites, and flag anything suspicious you encounter. By working together and staying skeptical, we can stay a step ahead of these criminal schemes. #cyberawareness #cyberdefense

The reason this type of attack can be avoided, especially by emphasising the need for training non-technical staff, is because these staff members often constitute the most vulnerable point of entry for cybercriminals. By providing comprehensive training on cybersecurity best practices, organisations can educate their non-technical staff about the risks associated with social engineering attacks, such as the business email compromise attack mentioned in the video. Training can include educating staff members about the tactics used by cybercriminals, such as phishing emails and social media manipulation, and teaching them how to identify and report suspicious activities. By raising awareness and promoting a culture of cybersecurity within the organisation, non-technical staff can become the first line of defence against such attacks. Additionally, training can help non-technical staff understand the importance of adhering to security protocols and following established procedures. This includes being cautious when interacting with unfamiliar contacts or announcements on platforms like LinkedIn, and verifying the legitimacy of requests before sharing sensitive information or making financial transactions. By focusing on training non-technical staff, organisations can strengthen their overall security posture and minimise the risk of falling victim to attacks that exploit vulnerabilities in human behaviour. It is crucial to recognise that cybersecurity is not solely the responsibility of IT departments, but a collective effort that involves everyone within the organisation. Make the training fun and participatory. #staysafeonline I covered this in my latest piece https://lnkd.in/dp8efUEV Security awareness & training needs to move beyond skillsets to change in mindsets.
