#TikTok & #Twitch claim their audience is unique and can't be reached elsewhere. I got curious about how these platforms stack up against mobile gaming audiences. Turns out, about 60% of mobile gamers are also hanging out on TikTok and Twitch. 🎮📱 I don't think that advertisers need to abandon their current ad playbooks and put all their eggs in the mobile gaming, Twitch, and TikTok basket. The latest dentsu study unveils an interesting trend: gaming ads capture attention more effectively than traditional media. However, the twist is in their struggle with brand recall. Diving into the numbers, Twitch’s livestream ads significantly outperformed others, achieving an impressive 57% brand recall, far above the Dentsu norm of 38% for other media forms like audio and online video. Moreover, Twitch ads improved brand preference by an average of 17%, surpassing the 5-10% range typically seen with other media. On the other hand, Activision Blizzard's rewarded viewing ads showed a staggering 100% on-screen impression rate, with an average of 10,043 attentive seconds per thousand audience impressions. This is significantly higher than the 6,100 seconds average for online video ads. Anzu.io's in-game ads also excelled, capturing attention for an average of 3,442 seconds, outstripping traditional online ads. Yet, despite these high engagement rates, gaming ads overall fell short in brand recall compared to other media, particularly in fast-paced gaming environments.
