It is shocking to see that more than 2,600 GW of electric generation and storage projects are stuck in the interconnection queue (and 40% of these are solar projects!). The batch evaluation of projects for transmission upgrades (as mandated by FERC Order No. 2023) is a great start, but the proposed framework sounds more interesting. Lowering interconnection costs and strengthening the transmission system is critical to accelerating clean energy deployment across the country. The rapid growth of solar generation in the ERCOT grid is beginning to reshape the energy landscape in Texas. According to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), solar power contributed 32.4 TWh to the grid in 2023, accounting for 7.29% of the annual total. The American Clean Power Association (ACP) released the Clean Power Q3 Quarterly Market Report, showing the industry brought online 5,551 MW of utility-scale clean power capacity in the third quarter of 2023, setting a third-quarter installation record. Other highlights include: 🔋 #BatteryStorage installations surged 63% in Q3 2023, exceeding the total 2022 installations. ☀️ Of the 5.5 GW of utility-scale #solar, #wind, and battery storage that came online in the third quarter, over 3 GW was from solar projects. 🔌 Cumulatively, operating clean power capacity in the US reached 243 GW in Q3 2023, enough to power 65 million American homes. https://lnkd.in/gbEpXHvf #ACPMarketReport #CLEANPOWER #ACP
