Vena Energy is forging ahead towards carbon neutrality with a successful execution of a corporate Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Mitsubishi Corporation Clean Energy. This landmark agreement will facilitate the procurement of electricity generated by the Maibara Solar Project, a 31.65MW photovoltaic power station currently under construction in Maibara City, Shiga Prefecture. Expected to generate enough clean renewable energy to power approximately 8,560 Japanese households annually, this project offers low-emission electricity generation equivalent to avoiding over 18,600 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions per annum and saves up to 31 million litres of water annually compared to conventional thermal energy generation methods. Raul Rienda, Head of Japan at Vena Energy, expressed gratitude to local governments and host communities for their support and allowing Vena Energy to harness the region's natural resources responsibly. He remarked, “Vena Energy has successfully reached the milestone of 922 MW in operating capacity across Japan. We are very honoured to collaborate with Mitsubishi Corporation Group on this journey towards carbon neutrality. Our commitment to actively engaging in the corporate PPA market underscores our dedication to supporting corporate decarbonization efforts and Japan's transition to a decarbonized society.” Read the full press release: https://lnkd.in/d8ZBjgvg #VenaEnergy #Sustainability #GreenEnergy #CleanEnergy #GreenTransformation #MaibaraSolarProject #ShigaPrefecture #Japan

Japan Solar Update: No.57 ( Aug 7 ~ 10, 2023) <METI Updates Outlook for renewable energy curtailment in FY2023> #meti #curtailment #outputcontrol #pv #renewableenergy #rts The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) updatesed the outlook for renewable energy output control in FY2023 ending March 2024 on Aug 3, 2023. The amount of renewable energy output control is trending upward from the initial forecast at the end of 2022 due to a decrease in electricity demand and changes in the amount of use of inter-regional interconnection lines used. The forecast of the renewable energy output curtailment rate for each area is 6.7% in Kyushu, 3.8% in Chugoku, up 2 to 3% from the initial forecast. Increases in curtailment rate were also reported for the Tohoku, Chubu, Hokuriku, and Okinawa areas, and the forecast of output curtailment in Kansai area was reported for the first time. For the Tokyo area, the probability of the renewable energy output control in FY2023 is highly unlikely. Since the amount of renewable energy output curtailment is on the increase, METI plans to compile a new package of measures to reduce renewable energy output control by the end of 2023.

Happy International Day of Clean Energy 🎉 To celebrate, we wanted to shine a spotlight on our Nanao project 🔦 At TotalEnergies, we launched our first solar power plant in Nanao, Japan, in March of 2017. Situated on the stunning Noto Peninsula along the country's west coast and spanning over 25 hectares, our cutting-edge facility is powered by more than 80,000 high-efficiency SunPower solar panels, delivering clean energy to approximately 9,000 Japanese households. 🏡 🇯🇵 Japan has been on a remarkable path to diversify its energy mix. Committed to driving sustainable change, the Japanese government has set a target of achieving a 7% share of solar photovoltaic (PV) in its energy mix by 2030. 👷 Constructed on brownfield land owned by our esteemed project partner, ISE Foods, the Nanao PV power plant is TotalEnergies' pioneering venture into the Japanese renewable energy landscape. 💡 What makes this project truly remarkable is its triumph over geological and climate challenges. Situated along the coast and exposed to seismic risks, heavy rainfall, strong winds, and snow, the plant is a testament to our commitment to sustainable innovation. ➡️ Learn more about the project here: https://lnkd.in/exBEPF7X #InternationalDayOfCleanEnergy #TotalEnergies #RenewableEnergy #SolarPower #JapanEnergyTransition
