Fresh off the AFA Air and Space Conference 2023, and it's clear that while leadership panels fuel the mind, it's connection that fuels the soul. Brought along one of the newest Captains on my staff for some on-the-ground professional development. Witnessing his excitement was like seeing the future of leadership in real-time. A couple of his take-aways verbatim:   "AF Senior Leaders have your back (they adapt to the ever-changing environment and we must be ready to at our levels to also adapt in order to support the greater Department of the Air Force.) Our AOR (Pacific) is front and center to many of the conversations, so be ready and know that we are at the forefront." His realizations alone made the trip worthwhile--moreover, though, our current leaders did a great job relating to our future leaders. The cherry on top? Experiencing candid panels with my Chief and Capt, discussions so authentic they could only be termed 'soul food' for any leader. Left there grateful for dedicated leaders keeping us ahead and informed. Left with not just strategic perspective, but the urgency of our operational imperatives -- but also a renewed sense of purpose and community. #AirAndSpace2023 #Leadership #Connection #Authenticity #Rejuvenated

Really good to again be part of the judging panel for this year's Defence Industry Awards. There's currently a lot of commentary around defence policy and investment. Personally, I'd love to see governments (of all stripes) significantly up their game and sense of urgency and collaboration for the greater national good. What I can say, based on the submissions I judged, is there are exceptional leaders, teams and businesses ready to rise to the challenge once the direction is set.
