🌟 DataTalent Participant Project Highlights 🌟 💡 Our DataTalent program offers Canadian employers the opportunity to connect with outstanding data professionals through fully subsidized internships and projects. DataTalent Program is powered by Upskill Canada and the Government of Canada. Palette Skills 👥 Highlighting: Abdoul's Project! ➡️ Project Description: In this project, Abdoul focuses on optimizing energy distribution. The objective of the project is to predict peak energy demand, manage load balancing and reduce energy waste in the distribution network through the application of machine learning algorithms. Abdoul chose to work with Hydroelectricity to predict its consumption in North America and learn from it. Machine learning algorithms such as Linear Regression, Support Vector Regression (SVR), Lasso and Ridge Regression were used in this project. 💡🔌📊 https://lnkd.in/gZiNv6ut

We recently visited one of our valued clients, Penrith Solar Centre, who have worked with us since 2016, to showcase their incredible apprenticeship program in the new energy sector. Penrith Solar are active in the VET industry, employing 29 apprentices with Apprenticeship Support Australia. In our catchup with Jake Warner, Founder of Penrith Solar Centre, and Rob Ware, Head of Technical Training, they shared insights into the current high demand for new energy occupations as Australia tracks towards Net Zero emissions. Peter Gilchrist, Executive Director for Apprenticeship Support Australia, and Ross Natoli, Regional Manager for Greater Western Sydney, also discussed the growing need for apprentices in trades. Speak to one of our mentors today if you are interested in an apprenticeship at https://lnkd.in/gFz6AMa6

Was great to get back to my alma mater Saïd Business School, University of Oxford to chat about the future of work in the Energy Transition last week. Super interesting to hear from representatives from finance, tech, consulting, and oil & gas. In summary: 1) There's a definite gap in the talent in this growing market ($2.3 trillion in 2021, and projected to reach $5.6 trillion by 2031, with a CAGR of 9.3% from 2022 to 2031) 2) There are lots of ways to be part of the energy transition 3) Find the one you're most interested in and become an expert Was wonderful to see you again Abby Chan, Maria Rodriguez Arteaga, Madeleine Paler, Marc J Ventresca and to meet you Juergen Heeg.
Students keen to explore careers in energy transition had a special evening yesterday, joined by alumni Juergen Heeg, Abby Chan, Carolyn H. and Maria Rodriguez Arteaga to talk about their experiences and share advice. A huge thank you to them for joining us at the school to support our current students across no fewer than SIX different programme cohorts, and for Associate Professor Marc J Ventresca for joining us too.

This Week’s Wrap up: $152M from DOE for three separate announcements. 1. $34M for Clean Hydrogen. This will fund 19 industry- and university-led research projects to make clean hydrogen more available and affordable. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e4Ehp4ZH 2. $70M for Research Training in Historically Underrepresented Institutions. The funding, through our Reaching a New Energy Sciences Workforce (RENEW) initiative, will support internships, training programs, and mentor opportunities at 65 different institutions, including 40 higher-learning institutions that serve minority populations. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/ec6nxzEb 3. $48M for Grid Modernization. Three states and nine tribal nations will receive this funding to modernize the electric grid against climate-driven extreme weather and natural disasters. This is the 6th cohort of our Grid Resilience State and Tribal Formula Grant program. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/euXTDj6q

It’s interesting that the fund is going to Clean Hydrogen and not limited to green Hydrogen

I am completing a research project as part of my internship, and it would be great to get as many responses as possible. If you feel that your knowledge on this topic is low, that information is of great importance to me - so don’t be put off completing the survey! Plus it’s totally anonymous. Hydrogen Energy: Awareness and Perceptions. The aims of this survey are to gain a better understanding of perceptions towards green and blue hydrogen, and to write a literature review in response to the data collected to raise awareness of the marine implications of blue and green hydrogen production. The survey should take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. Link attached. https://lnkd.in/ehHAMuMc

Wanted to share this article with my network. It's no secret that the IRA has been and will continue to be huge for the industry, but it also presents some unique challenges. At HardHat, we are taking the toughest of these challenges head on. Starting in 2024, our registred apprenticeship program will be available in all 50 states. Gone are the days of worrying about labor and IRA compliance. Hardhat has the crews and the knowledge to get the job done. https://lnkd.in/gi8bYpcP Message me to learn more about our IRA solution and how we can partner on your projects! #ira #solar #utilities
