The number 1 question I get is What is a Landman? Number 2 is how do I become a Landman? I always direct them to this video, we are very proud of our industry and welcome the chance to highlight our field. Do you know what a Landman is?
On this day in 2022, “The Path of the Landman – Powering the World” debuted at our 68th Annual Meeting. Since then, the 10-minute video and its accompanying shorter versions have served as an important advocacy and recruiting tool for the land profession. In addition to the views that it has amassed online, the video has been seen in person by thousands on high school and college campuses, at mainstay industry events like NAPE and AAPL Energy Institute and at outreach events like school counselor conferences, energy festivals and more! “The Path of the Landman” tells the story of the land professional's journey of converting ideas into energy. Bringing a fresh awareness of the landman's crucial role in the energy industry, it dispels myths and misconceptions while highlighting the importance of the land profession and energy business to our local communities, states, country and world by providing the basic necessities for a modern life. Check out the full video here or watch shorter versions on our YouTube channel. https://bit.ly/4endkcd Special thanks to Chevron, Devon Energy, Chesapeake Energy and HDBC Investments for supporting this great industry tool as a sponsor. #PoweringTheProfession #AmericasLandmen

Big shoutout to my friend Matthew Hill. He does a lot for the Oklahoma energy industry, most of which is done behind the scenes. Go check out Oilfield Tailgate and show him some loving. We as industry professionals oftentimes get caught up in the whole corporate America baloney and forget about the human aspect of our day to day. We all need to be reminded that the core of any successful industry lies not just in numbers, strategies, or technologies, but in the people who drive it. Matt is a prime example of someone who understands this deeply. His contributions, though often unseen, play a vital role in the vitality of the Oklahoma energy sector. At Oilfield Tailgate, the focus is on fostering a community where professionals can come together not just for business, but to support each other on a more personal level. It’s about building relationships that go beyond transactions and brief handshakes. In our fast-paced environment, it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that genuine connections are what make our industry thrive. These connections are not about what we can get, but about what we can give. It’s about being there for others without the expectation of a return. This makes any kind of organic return even more sweet. So, I encourage you all to take a moment to think about how you can contribute to this community spirit. Reach out to a colleague, offer support, share knowledge, or simply have a genuine conversation. Let’s remember that at the heart of our industry are the relationships we build and the community we nurture. #EnergyIndustry #CommunityBuilding #OklahomaEnergy #OilfieldTailgate #ProfessionalNetworking

It is the last day of voting for the Solar Energy Industries Association elected board seats. Voting closes tonight at 11:59pm ET. Please consider voting for me for at-large elected director! If you have already voted, thank you for participating. As we wind down on 2 weeks of campaigning, I want to thank everyone who vocally and privately has endorsed or supported my candidacy. I can't continue to serve you, the board and the industry without your trust and confidence. I am SO grateful to be a part of this industry and to have had the privilege to serve you over these last 6 years. If you want a representative who is always going to be looking forward, finding blind spots and pushing the industry to innovate, I'm your person. My track record is evidence of that. Whether evaluating the viability of microgrids and virtual power plants in New Orleans East in 2014, establishing innovative financial partnerships with the Connecticut Green Bank, passing the transformative #VirginiaCleanEconomyAct, developing over a GW worth of Utility-scale wind and storage, or building a coalition of hundreds of advocates to champion for the #ResidentialRenewablesForAll Coalition, I am always working for the benefit of the industry. Please let me continue to work for you. Last year, I had the opportunity to sit down with Canary Media Inc. to chat about my journey. You can check that article out here: https://lnkd.in/g9FNKD7t Or listen to me sing the praises of the #VCEA on the Suncast Podcast here: https://lnkd.in/gKTyKUgD Or, chat about energy equity with Jahi Wise back in 2015 here: https://lnkd.in/gAMKzpGt Thank you and here is hoping for 2 more years of service! Executive & Technical Search | Infrastructure & Real Assets | APAC | Get in touch: Luke@north-search.com
Securing the best talent for assets that have never been delivered before is what we do best
(It’s not as out of reach as you might think) 🤫 Macquarie Capital approached North Search in need of a Technical Director to develop Australia’s first commercial Waste to Energy (WtE) plant. Sounds simple, right? The challenge was, there hadn't been a new Australian power project in 15 years. So, sourcing a candidate with relevant experience seemed impossible. Partnering with North Search enabled a much larger reach for Macquarie and ensured the acquisition of a Project Director responsible for delivering two temporary Open-Cycle Gas Turbines built in South Australia to combat the major summer blackouts. Despite WtE experience being absent, this candidate understood the demands of delivering power projects in Australia. Recognising the transferable skills necessary to succeed in a position allowed us to gain a suitable candidate for the client. Our solutions are designed to support you if you are experiencing a similar issue. Leave your details with us, and we will organise a quick, no-commitment discovery call today: https://bit.ly/3w7bf2t Or contact Paddy Delany, Luke Madsen Maher #CaseStudy #ExecutiveSearch #TechnicalTalent #RenewablesHire

When you hear the phrase diversity, equity and inclusion, your mind probably goes to the boilerplate topics that are the subject of so many panel discussions in Corporate America — diverse candidate pool, hiring and retention practices, mentorship versus sponsorship, to name a few. But for Spire General Counsel Sean Jamieson, DEI became a life-or-death matter in the summer of 2021 as a whopper regulatory battle put an existential threat to the existence of one of Spire’s natural gas pipelines. Critics thought Spire only designed its STL Pipeline project to line its own pockets. Jamieson and Spire viewed the pipeline as a means to diversify the natural gas source in eastern Missouri to lower the cost of delivering reliable energy to the people who need it the most: a widely vulnerable, underrepresented customer base. “This would have been bad for our business. But it would have been terrible for people,” Jamieson said. “I had spent the months before working with the technical analysts and modeling what it would mean if we didn’t have this pipeline, the number of customers we would potentially lose. I learned and internalized all the mechanics associated with what would actually happen.” Jamieson’s sleepless, behind-the-scenes work to bring together diverse viewpoints to solve complex problems is why Spire’s STL Pipeline is still running. It’s also why he’s a finalist for the ACC Houston - Association of Corporate Counsel and The Texas Lawbook’s 2024 Houston Corporate Counsel Award for Achievement in Diversity and Inclusion. https://lnkd.in/g5EmQfAy #diversityandinclusion #dei #naturalgas #lng #corporatecounsel
