Meeting and event planners are finding it harder to book those medium-sized events a year or more in advance. From the hotel’s perspective, it makes sense; it’s all about maximizing their rooms, space, and revenue. And committing to smaller events far in advance may prevent them from capturing larger events. So a hotel’s booking window for that small-medium sized event becomes shorter. Which puts many event planners in a tough spot when trying to book early. It all comes down to how valuable a group event can be. But as a planner, you may hesitate on giving away your total room budget as it reduces your ability to negotiate. Chris Merritt's suggestion? Leverage your projected F&B spend. By giving the hotel more info that they can count as guaranteed revenue, especially if your event exceeds typical F&B spend, hotels are more likely to work with you on booking timeframes and other concessions. Because your event may be much more valuable than originally thought based on the size alone. Cvent has just released the latest Planner Sourcing Report for Europe where we surveyed over 600 #eventplanners from across Europe. Some of the most useful insights and trends for #hospitalityprofessionals (in my opinion) from the report include: ✅ Hybrid events, alongside in-person events are on the rise.
